Religious and spiritual paradigms Posted: 22 Jan 2012 01:00 PM PST by AlicePopkorn Article by Liam Virinovi The realms of religious and spiritual paradigms and thought are littered with holier than though claims of superiority and grandeur. Statements and iron clad guarantees about what constitutes truth, and in the context of their competitors, untruth. The fact is that we are born into a world that is so theosophically fractured and disagreeable on what constitutes truth or the right path, that its no wonder many of us are constantly questioning or delineating what it is we believe and why we believe it in the first place. The fact of the matter is we do not consciously accept the fact that a 'belief' and a 'knowing' are two completely different paradigms. The former originates from opinion, from myth, and of course from personal or alleged experiences from 'other' people; in other words a belief is merely something that others have impressed to degrees at least, upon us. The latter concerns direct experience. For the larger part of modern human existence, religion and ritual has been accepted as the truth or right way of living. In many societies it has been necessary and indeed functional enough in enabling groups of people to live together and survive. Like any fundamental system however, religious or spiritual practice has its limitations. This is evidenced with the influx of 'other' trains of thought and ways of living that threaten the fabric of the incumbent paradigm. This has been evidenced throughout the ages with Christian paradigms and the conflict arising from splinter groups that moved away from the traditional Roman Catholic Church. We see it demonstrated on another level with the unfortunate ongoing conflicts between major religious factions all around the world. This is further complicated by those pertaining to represent a belief or faith, yet they are merely an off shoot of, or a group acting under the banner of a religious tradition. It gets complicated when the message and 'the truth' demands top billing and the ultimate need to be right and holy above all other! s. < p>If it is demonstrated that the truth is indeed a commodity that is assuaged to appease the strongest, then in effect it isn't really the truth. Yet the majority (not all) still maintain a relentless pursuit in competing for the top position and the need to be the authority on what is truth. So where does that leave us? Do we merely take a side and blindly believe the rhetoric, or do we seek new ways of approaching these complex issues and ways of living? To be aware that you are not aware of the facts is a starting point. To begin to be aware of the facts is a further progression to finding what it is that is truth for you. In a world so caught up in finding the 'truth' we often fail to see the intrinsic value of finding the 'un-truth'. This means being open to exploration and the possibilities in life that are only there to those who care to find them. Incumbent paradigms are encased in fear and usually possess any number of safety mechanisms to ensure their survival. They are indeed fortresses of thought that are penetrated by the relative few. Their survival and ongoing relevance depend upon it. And that is where we have witnessed some of the most unfortunate episodes in human history. What complicates this further is that the paradigm itself becomes so caught up in its own self importance and righteousness that it becomes immune, and indeed incognizant, of the natural progression of the human condition towards growth and development and to new ways of thinking and new expressions of consciousness. It is ironic that in a world possessed of so many leaders, we have before us so little leadership in such matters. Until the day that we can honestly and coherently discuss spirituality and religious matters with a more inclusive and appreciative approach for all concerned, we will continue to languish in the depths of ego based paradigms that continue to hold us back individually and as a species. How to love yourself (guardian angel not supplied) Posted: 22 Jan 2012 12:00 PM PST Someone on Facebook just introduced me to this very moving clip from Luc Besson's 2005 film, Angel-A, about an angel, played by Danish actress Rie Rasmussen, who intervenes to rescue, André (played by Jamel Debbouze), a self-loathing scam artist on the verge of killing himself. This makes me long for the days when I used to live around the corner from the Glasgow Film Theatre, where I enjoyed many fine foreign movies… Read More @ Source |

7 Reasons Why Its Important to Live from Heart Consciousness Posted: 22 Jan 2012 09:00 AM PST by AlicePopkorn Article by Loretta Mohl So, what's all the hub bub about Heart Consciousness? Our Heart centered truth always communicates with us. Never is there a time when it does not MOVE, BREATH and THINK with each of us. We already carry "Heart Centered Consciousness or just a Heart center inside each of us". Never is there a time where your heart center is outside of you where you feel you must find it, seek it out or go in search of it. Your Heart never hides from you and is always present and patiently waiting for you to recognize what is being freely given to you. By consciously making an effort to be in our heart center we regain our KNOWING. To get to internalize heart consciousness it does not take work; it takes remembering, enjoying, rejoicing, recognizing, playing and Knowing. In real time, NOW, away from distractions one can center into feeling your heart center. Recognizing those emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual signs and giving them energy is what draws us back or highlights the detachment from the heart self, the true self. BOOKS, TEACHERS AND COURSES are tools, reminders; but, never should they take the place of what you know within yourself. Your heart has always been there for you. It has never left you and will always remain with you. The only thing that has clouded the connection is the perspective of "something is lost". Perspective is very strong and can certainly derail any means of clarity. Each day, each experience, each spoken word, each emotion we feel centers us within our "true voice", our heart center. We are blessed with creator gently nudging us or sometimes giving us no option but to pursue our rediscovery of our heart self. When doubt, self destructive tendencies, self blocks cloud our truth, we become less communicative with this voice and begin a long arduous path of detachment and emotional upheaval. Here are seven important reasons why, it is important to live in our heart center to stay consciously connected to heart energy; 1. You heal your sel! f, other s, and mother Earth. Yes, it is that simple. Just by shifting from mind consciousness to heart centered consciousness you heal your self, others, and mother Earth. Yes, it is that simple. All we have to do and be is LOVE and it happens when shift from mind consciousness to heart consciousness. All you have to be is love, it's the answer to everything! It's easy to shift your consciousness from the mind to the heart and just be. To shift the planet to heart consciousness it takes only 1/3 of the population on the planet to do this it. Let's all commitment to living from the heart and to spreading the message, it is possible to heal mother earth and each other. There is no more time to waste. 2. Your TRUE VOICE comes from your heart center. EMBRACE YOUR HEART CENTERED VOICE. It's your and its free. Enjoy your love and heart consciousness self. Wake up each day and begin it with listening to your heart self, your heart voice. Remind yourself throughout the day of your true communication and soon you will always be in your heart centered voice, always in heart consciousness and grounded within ALL THAT IS YOU. When we let go of all doubt, miscommunication and allow our true heart voice to be heard and felt, one feels an instant connection with spirit, voice, higher self etc. This is the alignment everyone speaks of. We become on with our own vibration, our own voice and our own heart. There is comfort, strength, joy, solitude, reverence, youthfulness, excitement.....we become childlike in our adventures. What is different about this connection? How do you know this is your truth? You do not have to think about it. The connection is so natural that it resonates without conflict. All energy centers align and most of all, your mind lets go of any scenarios and it simply just "IS". There is no conflict from mind to heart. The KNOWING takes over. Peacefulness is at hand. This is the energy you want to go within--meditate with this energy allow yourself to really feel this energy throughout your! body, y our soul, your heart. It is the true connection that keeps your centered in the heart consciousness. This reflects outward with every decision, each thought, each activity....no longer are you making decisions separate from your heart consciousness. Instead everything begins with and ends with your heart center. All conflict falls away. Double is no longer part or your decision. One becomes one's truth. The bodies are aligned and truth is centered. Truth fills every part of your being, heart centered love consciousness centers all. Your strength, purity of voice is clearly heard, communicated and witnessed. People stand with a voice of clarity, love and compassion. 3. Connected to the " ONE" source. We are here to live from a consciousness of our inner magnificence and to experience our birthright of unlimited abundance. Whatever label you use for Source energy: God, Life Force, Creator, Universal energy, Divine Presence; it exists in everyone and in everything. The power of heart conscious intention is what instantly makes Source energy available to us and that power is within us to access at will. The minute we use intention to acknowledge our connection to Source energy we have the opportunity to create or change anything that we desire. 4. Truth comes from the heart. Spend more time shifting your awareness to your heart center, breathing, giving voice to our' Heart truth". Speak through the purity of your energy and not just functional words. Our true voice, heart voice communicates through energy vibrations. Such as, beauty, love, joy, happiness, energy, light, this is the wonderful connection all are freely given every day. Heart Consciousness is real, alive and is YOU. All you have to do is be YOU, alive, approachable, embracing love, patient, caring. You don't have to try and create this new self........IT ALREADY EXISTS...IT'S YOU. 5. All conflict falls away. This reflects outward with every decision, each thought, each activity....no longer are you making decision! s separa te from your heart consciousness. Instead everything begins with and ends with your heart center. All conflict falls away. Doubt is no longer part or your decision. One becomes one's truth. The bodies are aligned and truth is centered. Truth fills every part of your being, heart centered love consciousness centers all. Your strength, purity of voice is clearly heard, communicated and witnessed. People stand with your voice of clarity, love and compassion. 6. By living from Heart Consciousness allows the soul expression to come through.Heart Consciousness is you, free for you and is always in and around you. Thank yourself daily. Always choose to come from your KNOWING. Allow your heart consciousness to guide you and you not guide it. Listen, trust, allow and let go. 7. When connected with your heart center you're in present moment awareness. You start to notice, greater clarity, deeper dreams, greater awareness, and your body detoxifies on a regular bases. Exercise Time: Connecting with your heart center Touch your heart centered area with your right hand. Connect with your heart. Allow the energy to flow in. The key is the heart. The key to connecting our emotional/intuitive gifts with our brain's ability to decide and direct is through the heart. The key to accessing all of the knowledge contained within our cells and DNA is through the heart. The uses and the results are unlimited: we must only remember to turn our intention and consciousness toward our heart. Heart centered consciousness is our pathway to a much larger human shift into a new way of existence. As we practice and continue to have experiences of heart centered consciousness, our everyday state of mind shifts more and more into the heart-centered zone. The heart is a bridge between the earthly and spiritual levels of human consciousness. Heart centered consciousness is where spiritual awakening occurs, changing one's viewpoint of reality permanently. Once we see and experience this expa! nded rea lm of consciousness, it enhances our views and abilities for life. The energy of the heart is the energy of love. All that we have to be is love. BE LOVE. About the AuthorLoretta Mohl, Coach, Author & Founder FIT Loretta has spent the past 25 years living and promoting heart-centered consciousness. How the cost of smoking cigarettes led me to meditation Posted: 22 Jan 2012 08:00 AM PST by premasagar Article by Terry Silver Cigarettes had gotten too expensive and I'd like to share with you how meditation made me quit. I was a 3 pack a day smoker but the recession has made many of my luxuries cost prohibited. For example my retirement party that I expected at age 59, 4 years from now, is postponed indefinitely because my 401k has dropped to a 101k, meaning it's a 3rd of what it is used to be. My 8 rental homes that I planned to sell off each year to suppliment my retirement are now worth less than what I owe on them, thanks to the Mortgage meltdown. But the worst kicker of all is my favorite cigarettes have become too expensive for even me to justify. I have been smoking ever since I was a young adult. No matter what happens, my Kools and I could handle it together. I loved smoking and never had any problems. I mean an occational cough here and there, but that's to be expected. I am a door-to-door salesman and my cigs have never affected my ability to climb stairs or knock doors, so the bad rap they have concerning the health issues don't really apply to me. But, when it comes to the money that I am shelling out for these cigarettes and with my retirement and my rental homes dropping value, I need to pinch some pennies and cut out all extravaganzas. This is where I realized how much money I was spending on my smoking habit. Smoking cost more than food, or gasoline for my truck. My bowling league memberships are cheaper per month than my cigarettes. In fact smoking is beginning to rank up ther with my mortgages and my utility bills. Smoking has gotten to be an expensive habit. So I needed to Quit. But How? Quiting Its easier said than done. First, I tried cold turkey, but it didn't work because I couldn't start my day without a smoke. Every morning I needed a cigarette just to start off my day. Next I tried Nicotine Replacement Therapy with the patches stuck to my chest. In addition to their itching the hell out of me I would still smoke ! even whi le wearing the patches. I was even going to try Hypnosis until I found out how expensive it cost and my health plan wouldn't cover it. But then I remember a friend that chain-smoked constantly and quit sewveral years ago without any problems.I contacted him and he recommended meditation. To Tell the truth, I thought all this meditation was kind of silly.I mean I not the kind of guy that will sit cross legg and chant some mantra from India. But boy was I wrong! Meditation is not silly. I am 10 weeks clean from cigarette because I learned to meditate. Meditation taught me to stop "trying to quit" and "made me quit" effortlessly. Meditation is a simple thing to do but it is so powerful that it took away my desire for a smoke without the cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Now I can enjoy the taste of food without having to drown it in salt because my taste buds were numb to all the years of smoking and my sense of smell has returned to where I can't even stand the smell of cigarettes anymore. But the best thing of all is the money I am saving. I may can retire in 4 years after all with the money I am saving from not buying cigarettes anymore. If you have been smoking for years like me and loved smoking but realize that the cost is not worth it anymore, then click on the meditation link below, and try a free preview. It can be the best decision you'll ever make.http://8d284gl7z0urhvdr2m7ewo1mdo.hop.clickbank.net/ About the AuthorOnce a promising boxer that smoked a pack per day even as an athlete. Smoked for 35 years before the cost of smoking forced me to re-examine my bad habit. |
Another look at the four noble truths Posted: 22 Jan 2012 08:00 AM PST For a newbie, it should be fairly obvious that the Four Noble Truths (chatvari arya-satyani) should come at the beginning of their spiritual journey giving it direction. Logically, it is difficult to imagine the Four Noble Truths as comprising the Buddha's actual awakening; after he recognized his mind had been liberated from the intoxicants (P., âsava) of phenomenal existence and ignorance (cf. M. i. 23). In fact, the Buddha's mind had attained nirvana which is transcendent and immortal (P., amata); which is beyond suffering, its origin, its cessation, and the path leading to its cessation. If anything, the Four Noble Truths serve as a bare bones outline for the beginner—maybe also an oversimplified guideline. But it lacks pertinent information about the Buddha's liberating insight (prajñâ) that came after the fourth meditation (dhyâna) with the destruction of the intoxicants. Incidentally, some scholars have proposed that the Four Noble Truths may have been inserted by a later tradition. It seems reasonable to assume that early Buddhism had no pressing need for the Four Noble Truths which was, instead, focused on meditation (dhyâna) and the subsequent destruction of the intoxicants which culminated in insight (prajñâ) and mind's liberation (vimukti). Adding more credence to this, we learn that after Gautama had abandoned asceticism he sought another way of awakening. He recalled the first meditation (dhyâna) he had experienced in his youth (M. i. 246). Most likely it served as the basis for the other meditations which, at a later time, were lumped together into right concentration (samyak-samadhi) of the noble-eightfold-path (arya-ashtanga-marga). We should also keep in mind that the Buddha was described as a meditator (P., jhâyin) who was engaged in meditative seclusion (P., patisallanam).

Money and Marketing: 5 Ways Being In a Master Mind Can Pay Off Posted: 22 Jan 2012 07:00 AM PST by RubyJi Article by Kendall SummerHawk When I first started my business I knew I needed help but I had no idea where to go or who to ask. Perplexed, I kept trying networking groups, teleseminar programs, at one point I even considered some of the traditional government-run small business centers.I felt like Goldilocks. Each option was either too stodgy and "brick and mortar"-based, or felt cheesy. Plus, many of the avenues I researched seemed focused on slow growth, charging by the hour and other business no-no's that I knew weren't right. Finally, while attending an event a few years ago, I was introduced to the idea of joining a high-end Master Mind. I watched in fascination as more than a dozen people signed up for a program that, at the time, seemed "priced to the nines." Intrigued, I did my homework and found out why being in a high-end Master Mind pays off. Frustrated at the slow growth in my own business, I gulped, filled out an application and joined a high-end program. Within 90-days I had tripled my income. Coincidence? I don't think so. Since then, I've been a believer! Now, not only would I never not be in a high-end Master Mind, but I've become a recognized expert at leading my own Master Minds, plus teaching my clients how to add this profitable income stream to their business. Here are my personal, top 5 ways a Master Mind can pay off for you. Plus, the #1 "no-no" you must never do when joining a Master Mind. Tip #1: Join A Master Mind With Members Who Are MORE Successful Than You Your ego may not like this but if you're going to get the maximum value from a high-end Master Mind, you must surround yourself with others who have walked the path ahead of you. And please don't worry that you won't "have anything to contribute." As long as you show up powerfully and authentically, you'll offer plenty of value to the others in your group. Tip #2: Choose Your Master Mind Leader Carefully My mom taught me to always learn from the best. Which is why I carefully choose my Master Min! d based not only on the successful track record of the leader but also on whether I resonate with their energy. I need to know they're going to push me beyond my comfort zone, challenge me to stretch into new levels of success, but do so in a way that feels supportive and collaborative. Tip #3: The Bigger The Investment The Bigger Game You'll Play I've always invested more than I thought I could "afford." Reason is, if the amount you're investing doesn't take your breath away (at least a bit!), you won't take the program, or yourself, seriously. Simply put: the more you invest, the more you implement. For example: last year I invested 6-figures to be in a Master Mind. Believe me, that took my breath away, big time! Making that leap caused me to immediately step up, raise my fees, launch a new program, then launch a high-ticket info product that had been languishing on my to-do list for months. That launch alone turned into a multi 6-figure pay day. Tip #4: Be Willing To "Undo Your Knitting" Being flexible and having a beginner's mind will help you stay open to the creativity and feedback of your Master Mind group. It's not unusual to go into a Master Mind with one business but come out with another. What's both powerful and cool about this is that the business you end up with is the one you knew in your heart you wanted to create in the first place, but were afraid to. High-end Master Mind members will instantly see what's possible for you, what your truth is, and where you may be hiding out. Not only will they call you on your "stuff" (ahem), but they'll help you with ideas and resources to make your product and program launches succeed far beyond your current vision. Tip #5: Focus On The Transformation You Desire, Not The Amount Of Time Invested A high-level Master Mind is not the place to be looking for the "super size me" option. While I highly recommend choosing a program that includes private coaching, the amount of coaching included isn't what will produce t! he trans formation you desire. What will, is the collective ideas, feedback and "pull" forward you get from the group. The Biggest "No-No" In Choosing Your Master Mind Program... You must pay to play. Creating a Master Mind where no one pays does not pay off. There is simply no substitute for stepping up and investing in yourself in this way. Stepping up creates a powerful transformation within you that immediately shows up for you in your business.Last tip on how being in a high-end Master Mind pays off? If you want to offer these types of programs in your business (and I highly recommend that you do), then you must be in one yourself. Otherwise, offering your own won't give you the experience you need, nor will it be authentic. Considering that my clients routinely end up bringing in six figures per Master Mind program they launch, the investment in participating in one themselves is truly a wise one! Vets find ways to de-stress using yoga, meditation Posted: 22 Jan 2012 06:00 AM PST Lindsay Wise, Houston Chronicle: Army veteran Weldon Holder stood barefoot on a yoga mat and extended his arms straight in front of him, fingers interlaced and palms pushed away from his chest. Creating Your Own Mind Puzzles Posted: 22 Jan 2012 05:00 AM PST by Deer Park Article by Talha Azeem Creating your own mind puzzles is a rewarding experience. Not only can you explore your creative mind, you can use the mind to create puzzles you can enjoy. You can sit and laugh over the puzzles you create, which laughter promotes youth. Still, the rewards reach above laughter and youth. You will also reach the benefits of enjoying an active mind. Having an active mind will keep you ahead of life's, up, and down games. Puzzles are fun, yet when you create your own, you have your own fingerprints in writing that you can share with your children, friends, family, and other people. In time, you may publish your own mind puzzle book by creating your own mind puzzles often. To create your own mind puzzles, you can start with names, places, words, numbers, etc. Let's try it together. Word puzzles: Start building a block of words that comes to your mind. Write each word on paper. Example: penny - letter - romance - center - solution - mystery - Now, we can write a list of associating words - Fiscal - weak - alphabet - inspired - piece - discovery - trivia - undiscovered - state of mind - Next, review your first word list. Find the word that associates with the first word in your list. Penny - think for a few minutes about what penny means to you. We could go with fiscal, since it involves money, or we could choose weak. Weak is an option, since a penny amounts to nothing these days. On the other hand, if you apply the rule - "A penny saved is a penny earned," you might associate the penny with fiscal. Next, consider letter. Letter could associate with writer or alphabet. It doesn't matter what you choose in this instance, yet you can elevate writing letters verses alphabets and probably draw your own conclusion. Now think of romance. Romance, when you consider variant sides, romance could associate with undiscovered - mystery - inspired - state of mind, etc. In this case, we will associate romance with inspired, since to feel romance, you must feel inspir! ed to gu ide you to that state of mind. Now think about how romance can associate with mystery and undiscovered. Draw your own conclusions. My conclusion is that you have to explore your inner self, which is a mystery often to most of us to find our skills in romance. Center is something to discover, since you have the center of the universe to consider, middle areas, and centerpieces that go on a table - thus center associates with pieces. Solution is something we discover. Solution is obvious in this instance, since we must discover answers to our problems. Discovery - Solution are emulsions, which we use mixtures of answers with key points to discover ways of solving our problems. Mystery is something we have to discover also. Mystery is secrecy, or trivia. Mystery is undiscovered, since we must explore the secrecy to find solutions to the thriller or unidentified answers. Mystery is also inspired, since when we have mystery we often feel inspired to explore the foundation to find answers. The hidden messages beneath the surface often inspire one to explore the possibilities by offering suggestions. This is what mind puzzles are - mysteries we must discover answers to solve the problem. Mystery then, is something undiscovered. Yet, what does mystery mean to you? Mind puzzles include various styles of word puzzles. You also have choices of lateral puzzles, block puzzles, wooden puzzles, etc, as well as other types of mind puzzles. To save money however, you can practice creating your own mind puzzles so that you can open your mind up deeper than you would relying on someone else doing the work for you. Unleashing the Full Potentials of Your Mind Posted: 22 Jan 2012 04:00 AM PST by mindfulness Article by Andre Thune There is something essential in man in which it is what it sets him apart from other creatures and creations in this world - the human mind. This is what makes him behave properly, speak sensibly, act due to a certain cause, and stay surviving despite many obstacles and problems he faces in life. Powerful, isn't it? The power of the human mind is so strong that it makes man possess an ability to mold his personality, create his future, build his destiny, and turn his dreams into reality - a power so real and even greater, better, and more efficient than all other supernatural powers only created by the imagination. The human mind does all these things, or should I say power, because of its unique characteristics and nature. It is comparable to a mirror in the sense that it is open and vast, reflects in full and precise details, unbiased towards any impression, distinguishes clearly, and is a potential for having everything already accomplished. These mind features help man generate 2 kinds of thoughts: positive and negative. Positive thoughts are healthy, constructive, and good ideas, while negative thoughts are the exact opposite - unhealthy, destructive, and bad ideas being produced by the mind. The mind produces all sorts of things that can be classified into either positive or negative thoughts to the point where there exists a clash between them. They fight against each other to win over the individual's decision to which these thoughts would be taken into action. Choosing what kinds of thought to be acted upon depends on the individual's way of thinking. Positive thinking is the manner of looking at the good and bright things in life. Thus, if he is optimistic, he only entertains positive thoughts, making them succeed over the negative ones. On the other hand, negative thinking is the way of viewing life's worries, doubts, and fears. Thus, if he is pessimistic, he ignores positive thoughts and minds only the negative ones which are those that won in the clash. This! is also where the power of the mind starts manifesting. Positive thinking creates positive reality in such a way that it molds one's personality in good shape, makes his future clear, builds his destiny with directions, and turns his sweet dreams into reality. Negative thinking just the same has its power. Only, it creates negative reality - still the exact opposite of positive thinking. It molds one's personality with defects, makes his future vague, builds his destiny without directions, and turns his nightmares into reality. This is how powerful the mind can be? It's now up to us what reality we want to face; thus, what kind of thinking should we possess? Obviously, the positive kind of thinking is what's more preferable between the two. It will lead us in the right way in establishing a better life. Unfortunately, not all of us are optimistic. In fact, there are a lot of people who lives by the thought "I can't." Luckily, negative thinking is not a hopeless case. As spontaneous as our minds can be, we can still train them to ignore negative thoughts and focus only with the positive ones. These ways include starting the day with cheers and smiles, asking for guidance, planning the day ahead, being detached from the outcome, balancing one's desires, and a lot more. Making these tips a regular habit will cause one to realize that looking at the bright side of life is not at all difficult. It is easy plus it creates great outcomes. Thinking positively is only the first half of mind power. The other half is turning the positive thoughts into actions. And this is where will power comes in - the one responsible for making things happen. It's like the voice inside our system that makes us do things in order for our thoughts to become real. Mind and will power is not at all distinct from one other. When one thinks with the mind, the body immediately does actions willingly to attain whatever it is in the mind. Some common situations that individual finds difficult to face include personality polish! ing, mak ing many friends, finding true love, reaching goals in life, and eventually, being recognized by the society. In the event that he thinks he does not perform well in such situations, he already concludes, "I can't" without even trying. Therefore, he really will not. Where, in fact, if he just made the right programming in his mind that he can actually do it, then he will. See, how powerful the mind is? You do not need to be a Superman or any of the X-men, or simply a superhero to possess a power because you already have a power. All it takes is the right way of thinking, plus the proper attitude, to become a superhero in your own ways. And what is the right way of thinking? It's simple. It's "I can. Therefore, I will." Posted: 22 Jan 2012 03:00 AM PST Article by Mulkurnia Today• s fast-paced society entails a certain degree of stress in our daily lives. Whether work place stress or any other type of stress, they will take a toll on both our physical as well as mental health if not properly addressed. How do we deal with stress in these instances? They are several stress management techniques which you might find useful in helping you to cope with stress. These include: Deep BreathingDuring the course of our daily lives, we might encounter external stimuli which will invariably induce stress in our body. We might feel a sudden surge of anxiety which is accompanied with negative emotions, such as anger, frustration. Our heartbeat will become coarser and faster. Before reacting negatively to these external stimuli, we can stop whatever activity that we are currently engaging in, gain awareness that you are feeling anxious and stressed and to start doing deep breathing exercise. Perform several times of deep inhalation and exhalation through our diaphragm will often help us to calm down. Once calm, we can act and respond to the stimuli in a more rational way. This will help you in solving the issues at hand better. Time ManagementMore often than not, a person who can perform multi tasking in today• s society is often praised, and highly regarded. I think that the advantages of multi tasking are over rated. A human brain is not the same as computer. In the face of heavy workloads and commitments, it is best that one can prioritize our schedule. Instead of jumping into the tasks at hand indiscriminately and end up getting stressed out, it is advisable that one can do some planning and prioritization. Perform work that is the most pressing and urgent first. Instead of rigid time management, introduce some level of flexibility into it. Be prepared to change your course of action if situation warrants it. This technique will help you in coping with stress. Learning to Say NoThere is no faster way in getting more stressed out in the work place ! by being a • yes• man. Being employee entails us to obey and do the work that is being told to do. That does not mean that you have to fulfill every single task that is being asked of you. Assess your coping abilities with the work load. When things start to get out of hand, it is not a bad idea to learn to say no to more work load. Saying no does not imply that you are less responsible. Besides an exercise of your assertiveness, saying no helps you to maintain your sanity as well as your mental and physical well being. Good Night• s RestNumerous research have been carried out that show the benefits that a good night• s sleep has on the overall health and well-being. When people get less than six to seven hours of sleep each night, they will face a higher risk in developing diseases. The benefits to having a good night• s sleep include: 1. Maintaining a healthy heart, 2. Stress reduction, 3. Cancer prevention, 4. Losing Weight, 5. Memory booster among others. A person who has a good night• s sleep will feel more energetic and alert as well as less irritable. He will be less prone to anger when encountering unhappy instances during the course of the day. A good night• s rest will also aid in curbing the producing of stress hormones which are responsible for promoting higher blood pressures, Physical ExerciseThe benefits from having moderate physical exercise during the week can not be overemphasized. Physical exercises help in keeping you happy and relax. This is because exercise helps the body in secreting chemicals that will make you feel good and relax. By engaging in regular exercise, the stress symptoms will be minimized and you will experience a more uplifting mood. Besides reducing stress, physical exercise helps in adding years to your life, promoting better sleep and sex as well as keeps the disease away. MeditationAmong the good rituals that one can include in daily life, meditation is one of them. The practice of meditation helps one to become more relaxed, ca! lm and g aining better life perspective. Allocating certain amount of time daily to meditation routine helps to lower blood pressure, reduce stress and improve one• s overall health. Meditation, the ultimate mental fitness, also helps to alleviate mental problems such as anxiety and depression. These are some of the stress management techniques which can be implemented right away. By implementing these methods into the daily life, our ability to deal with stress will improve dramatically. With practice over time, various stress symptoms which we experience in the past at frequent interval will reduce and appear at a much lower and acceptable level. Gratitude: Mindfulness Practice Tips from a Life Coach for Women Posted: 22 Jan 2012 02:00 AM PST Article by Brook Montagna The Gratitude holiday, Thanksgiving, is upon us. Time for giving thanks. But just in case you are feeling a little low on appreciation, let's make sure we are filled to the brim with gratitude before giving thanks. Don't you just love the feeling of appreciation and gratitude? It really is an attitude, or state of being that feels warm and loving. So why do we need to be reminded with a holiday? I'm proposing that we live every day as a day of Thanksgiving as a mindfulness practice. As a life coach for women, I truly recognize the duty and service that women offer to the world. They give endlessly to everyone - their children, spouses, parents, extended families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and organizations, too. Women are Divinely designed to give. And we are also designed to give thanks. But sometimes, because of all the giving, we can become so worn out, it's can be hard to feel that warm, loving sense of gratitude. Instead, we may be feeling worried about someone or a situation, and not sure how to help. If you are having trouble feeling grateful in the midst of all the cooking, cleaning, planning, and caring for others, here are some mindfulness practices to reconnect you with your grateful heart, your divine right to an attitude of gratitude, no matter what is happening around you. First, we want to give ourselves permission to BE grateful for no reason whatsoever. That's right, just be grateful because you choose to be. Whenever we try to attach the feeling of appreciation and gratitude to an event, it loses it's spaciousness and expansiveness. The real sense of gratitude is a warm feeling in the heart, an acceptance and love for all that is - regardless of what you perceive as good or bad in the outside world. So for example, we may have many problems or none at all, but we can recognize the experience of appreciation for a cold drink of water or a breath of fresh air. It's the practice of BEING that we are grateful for. The moments when we can feel truly alive an! d presen t, without judgment or concerns. So at any moment you can give this to yourself. At any moment you can enter the state of being by just appreciating a single breath or noticing the freedom of a movement, feeling the energy within your body. Usually, we are prone to feel grateful when we are out in nature. We see the beauty and it transports us into a state of just being and appreciating. Give this to yourself every day. Revel in the sunrise or sunset, feel the sun on your back, or the breeze in your hair, whatever is present is a reason to feel appreciation. When I engaged as a life coach for women I often suggest a visit to a beautiful spot in nature, which can bring you back to the grateful state effortlessly. So many times, we feel anything but grateful because of some challenge we face. An illness, financial worries, relationship problems. By switching your focus to the mindfulness practice of being grateful for the very simplest of experiences, you can cultivate and reconnect with a grateful heart. Being here and now, take a long slow breath in and out, simply noticing the air movement and the relaxation that comes with a relaxing breath. Focus your attention on your heart and begin to breath in and out of the heart area. Allow yourself to feel the aliveness in your heart and imagine great warmth and light there. As you do, bring to mind something that you feel true appreciation and gratitude for. It could be someone you love, or something natural like your favorite place in the mountains or beach. When you experience that feeling of appreciation, keep expanding it and nurturing it until it is full and rich and wonderful in the heart area. This is an attitude of gratitude - no matter what is going on in the world. Give this to yourself. Revel in the feeling. You will begin to feel so full and blessed, that you will know you have much to give and much to give thanks for. Blessings for a Thanksgiving of Mindfulness Practices for Gratitude! Know one of the excellent retreats in India at Z Meditation in India Posted: 22 Jan 2012 01:00 AM PST Article by Lily Candice Retreats in India are gradually but steadily rising in popularity among visitors from almost every other part of the globe with vacationers seeking to obtain more from their holiday dollars than mere entertainment and relaxation. At these retreats in India, the major theme is the studying, learning and practice of meditation, meditation being the process of seeking to achieve a calmness of the mind, and consequently, the soul and body through age old methods. Retreats in India are available all over the country of India with different schools and approaches to the art and practice of meditation, such as that being provided by the Z Meditation Center. The decision by the daily occupied worker or executive who has a couple of weeks of holiday available to her to invest that time and a little money by visiting one of several retreats in India could well turn out to be one of the most important decisions of a lifetime. At retreats in India, for an example, that being run by Z Meditation, the (student) vacationer will be accommodated in one of the most serene environments available anywhere, with the inclusion of views that on their own, can produce a relaxing feeling that will endure for a long while upon the viewer. The individual who has come to the realization of the need to free herself from probably decades of imbibing, keeping and acting on wrong knowledge, and wishes to embrace the true knowledge, ultimately freeing herself from the clouds that have been obscuring the vision of her inner mind, a visit to one of the excellent retreats in India will be most beneficial. The Z Meditation Center provides facilities for retreats in India for the sincere seeker of total freedom of the mind. The minds of most of us have been so preconditioned that we see things and situations with a clouded vision, perceiving things that are not really there, but so conceived by many years of conditioning. The retreats organized by Z Meditation in India follow the course of Deep Deconditioning Inquiry and ! Radiant Mantras, which when diligently practiced will enable the murk within the mind of the individual to clear up so that a clear, unobstructed mind will be able to see things as they really are, providing the basis for proper and effective decision making. Taking part of the retreats in India offered by Z Meditation also gives the student the opportunity to see a different form of life and living, will be introduced to healthy foods and personal practices, while we should not forget about the serene and breathtaking views of the environment in which he will be ensconced within. The very viable vacation option of visiting retreats in India should be well considered as the positive benefits are much more than that delivered by other more expensive options, which may turn out to create more harm than good to the individual over the long run. Several retreats in India have been developed to a state in which they are now a tourist attraction in their own right. If we sum this with the spiritual benefits accruable from spending a short time in any one of the many retreats in India.... Master Your Mind - Master Your Body Posted: 22 Jan 2012 12:00 AM PST by mindfulness Article by Kate Corbin "The body is the servant of the mind." - James Allen According to Dr. Candace Pert, "our mind literally creates our body." Therefore, if your mind has created the body you now have, it follows that your mind can create the body you would like to have. You can actually THINK your way to your ideal body weight. You create your physical condition through your thoughts, therefore, you can THINK yourself thin or THINK yourself fat. When you focus your mind, you gain power. Like starting a fire by concentrating the sun's rays with a magnifying glass, intense mental focus causes a combustion of Energy and the invisible powers of the mind are transformed into visible manifestation. You can use the power of your mind to create ANYTHING you desire. Master your mind...Master your body...Master your life. Food is not fattening. It's not the food. It's your thoughts and beliefs and attitudes about yourself, your food, and your body that determine whether you gain weight or lose weight. As you consciously choose your thoughts, you become empowered and no longer fear "fattening" foods. Once you feel empowered, you become the master of your mind and your body is at your command. With the mind, anything is possible. You may have heard stories of people who have employed the power of the mind to reverse blindness, dissolve tumors or survive terminal illness. Consider these cases of mind over matter: • Morris Goodman, AKA The Miracle Man. Paralyzed as a result of a plane crash, his neck broken, his spinal cord crushed, and every major muscle in his body destroyed, Morris could not move except to blink his eyes. No one expected him to survive. No one, that is, except Morris. All he had was his mind and that turned out to be all he needed. He refused to allow anything to come into his mind that would distract him from his vision of walking out of the hospital. Using the infinite power of his mind, Goodman's body started to function again; he not only sur! vived bu t regained his health and is today an inspiring motivational speaker - proof of his rock solid belief that you become what you think about. • The Tarahumara Indians of Mexico run 25-50 miles a day in high altitudes thriving on an absurdly substandard diet of corn and occasional root vegetables. Apparently they don't buy into the belief that the body must ingest a wide variety of vitamins and minerals to maintain health. • The story of Theresa Neuman, a Breatharian, is documented in the book, Autobiography of a Yogi. Breatharians claim to live only on love and light, believing that the body is self-sustaining. From 1927 until her death in 1962, Neuman did not eat or drink anything. Neuman and other Breatharians clearly attest to the fact that the only limits to your mind are the ones you believe in. The human brain is an extraordinarily complex web of more than one hundred billion nerve cells, which generate, receive, record, and transmit Energy. When all their myriad interrelated combinations are taken into account, the number becomes astronomical. Why such enormous power? It is for the purpose of creation! As you learn to use the infinite power of your mind, you become capable of designing and creating your body, indeed your entire life, in exact accord with your desires. Mastering your body begins with mastering your mind. Your thoughts created the body you now have. Your thoughts can create the body you would like to have. Stress Management has become even easier with Lexor-Health Products. Posted: 21 Jan 2012 07:00 PM PST by familymwr Article by Lexor Health Vitamins In?Stress Out! There is a positive side to the stressful lifestyles so common in today's modern world. If you are racing from home to work and back again, dealing with traffic, caring for a family or loved ones and trying to keep it all balanced, you've probably already learned that you have the power to take your wellness into your own hands. This take charge attitude can keep you thriving in the midst of a busy, challenging life.A healthy diet, exercise, relaxation and nutritional supplementation can be key factors in achieving this goal. Some vitamins are key for assisting in the repair of damage done by stressful living. B-complex vitamins are particularly known for their positive benefits related to stress and they support a healthy nervous system. Deficiencies in B vitamins have been shown to be related to depression and anxiety. Hormones for Emotional and Physical Health Stress is a complex phenomenon involving many levels of wellness: physical, emotional, and psychological. The hormonal system is intimately involved in both stress relief and anti-aging activities. Pregnenolone is a precursor to many of the body's naturally occurring hormones, including DHEA, progesterone, estrogen, testosterone and cortisol. Supplemental pregnenolone taken from wild yams is molecularly identical to the body's own pregnenolone. Keeping the Brain Stress-Free Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) works in conjunction with pregnenolone to enhance memory and cognition, even when stress is present:GABA is another critical neurotransmitter involved in proper cognitive function. An inhibitory neurotransmitter that aids in relaxation and sleep, GABA acts as a "balancer" for the brain, helping balance excitation with inhibition. Pregnenolone may inhibit or enhance the activity of GABA receptors, thus helping modulate nervous system function. As a result, dietary supplementation with GABA and pregnenolone has been shown to assist successful job performance and learning among stu! dents. The Importance of Sleep in Stress Reduction Get a good night's sleep and everything else just seems to go your way! Herbal formulas can assist in better sleep without grogginess or side effects. Valerian extract helps to relax your mood after a stressful day. Relora is a non-sedative herbal stress relief formula derived from patent-pending magnolia and phellodendron extracts. By binding to specific stress receptors, the amount of cortisol (the stress hormone) circulating in the body dramatically lowered. Relora supports those with general stress concerns and related irritability, restlessness, food cravings, snacking, and poor sleep quality. What keeps America awake? Getting hard facts on sleep deprivation can be challenging. A variety of reasons are self-reported: concerns about finances or employment, difficult personal relationships, health-related concerns and hectic schedules that do not allow for relaxation just prior to bed.6 What we do know is that American's are having a hard time getting a good night's sleep. Finding the Right Supplements for Stress Support Supplements that offer maximum absorption are key for vitamin supplementation. The Superior Source Just Women-Stress formula combines B vitamins and vitamin D with selected herbs to promote the body's relaxation response and encourage the release of tension. Posted: 21 Jan 2012 06:00 PM PST by devadath Article by Jane Michael While most religions in the world have some form of meditation as a core practice (be it Christian monasticism or Islamic daily prayer), none have made it so central a tenet as Buddhism has. As such, there are many variations in the practice and goals of meditation within Buddhism. This article therefore is necessarily an overview and brief introduction to the wide range of Buddhist meditation. Buddhism has taught meditation to its adherents since the 5th century BC. Gautama Buddha (or simply "the Buddha", meaning "he who has achieved enlightenment"), the founder of the religion and its supreme teacher sought escape from this world and found it in meditation. Since then, this has been passed on to his followers. Broadly speaking, Buddhist meditation has as its goal the achievement of a deeper state of relaxation, or a heightened sense of awareness, a knowledge of the true nature of things. Ultimately, all meditation is seen as the path to enlightenment (a state in which a person is freed from all delusions about the world) and nirvana(a similar state, where one is free from greed and hate). Buddhism teaches that the root of all suffering and pain in the world is ignorance combined with greed and desire. On reaching nirvana, the soul is freed from all suffering, and indeed from the very cycle of rebirth. Techniques for meditation vary between different schools of thought - for example, there are hundreds of traditional methods of achieving mindfulness (a state of mind in which you are strongly aware of the present moment and distant from your own thoughts) and there are thousands of mental visualisations used in meditation. Different forms of meditation are designed to develop different desirable characteristics: concentration, loving-kindness, compassion, wisdom, freedom and so forth. Many techniques are common however, such as a focus on breathing as a means to reach tranquility and awareness. This method, known as Anapanasati has been recommended as a method by itself to reach! nirvana . This technique usually involves sitting comfortably, back straight and with no difficulty breathing. The meditator breathes normally, observing their breaths and simply becoming aware of them. No attempt is made to regulate, simply to observe and become aware of the body and its functioning. Meanwhile the meditator is trained to focus on eliminating thought. To an untrained meditator, thoughts will constantly break the calm of meditation, but with practise, true mental tranquility can be achieved. While this simplifies, the ultimate goal is to eliminate thought and clear the mind through a series of stages to reach nirvana. The philosophy of Buddhist meditation is therefore one of liberation - the teaching that man can escape from his self-imposed suffering through awareness of his surroundings and focusing his thoughts. Buddha sought to escape from old age, illness and death, and provided, through meditation, a prescription to his followers, an exhortation to follow him and hope to achieve his fate. Through clearing the mind of infirmities such as greed and hate, meditation seeks to heal the body of its infirmities. About the AuthorJane Michael is the head writer at the Center for Meditation. Meditation is her practice and her passion. Buddhist meditation is a great way to start your meditation practice. |
Posted: 21 Jan 2012 05:00 PM PST Article by Ellie Garwood So you've been practising yoga for many years now. Perhaps you have gone further and understand the history of the practise, and have mastered different versions, from Bikram (hot) yoga, to Kundalini, to Viniyoga. You might have even taken on other aspects of the yoga umbrella such as meditation, the yoga philosophy or breathing techniques. Or perhaps you just enjoy the physical benefits of health and fitness brought about by an increased focus on the body, maybe your breathing is better, and your muscles are toned. So where to go from here? Well if you are truly passionate about yoga, and you enjoy working with people, teaching might just be for you. There are numerous different teaching programmes available depending on who, and what, you want to teach, from baby yoga, to toddler yoga, yoga for the elderly, or for those with disabilities, you can even choose to train in many of the different variations of yoga, as outlined in the above introduction. Whether you are looking to train in the States, Europe or Australasia, or perhaps further afield in the practice's place of origin such as India, the courses will vary slightly, although guaranteed all will make you see yoga in a completely new light. Courses range in length but most are approximately four weeks (200 hours) in length; at the end of the course students will receive a certificate. Longer courses are also available, however, depending on how much depth you are willing to go into, or whether you are looking to study part-time or full time. Areas of study in a 'standard' course include: technique (such as spotting common postural problems, safe practice and avoiding injury) anatomy (knowing which muscles are working during which yoga poses, and how building muscles in certain areas protects certain areas, such as the back for example a set of good anatomy books is a must), philosophy (the such as karma and hatha yoga), history (documenting yoga's early origins in India), pranayama (control of breath), meditation, ch! anting, asana (seated pose) and the ethics of yoga. Classes will range from students partaking in yoga, to listening to the teachers talk about yoga philosophy, but both styles are two-way, with students encouraged to question and engage with the teachers, as well as pupils, on the course. Teaching environments, and the tutors, due to the nature of yoga, are very calming, practiced peacefully, are non-dogmatic; they are caring, nurturing, encouraging environments, where individuals are encouraged to be themselves, and to be inquisitive. One particular yoga school in the States, says the best teachers are those who remain student like themselves, ever questioning, ever searching, and always open to learning new interpretations, new philosophies and new ideas.
