Improve Your Mind, Improve Your Life

An empowered mind is more powerful than any marketing strategy, or coaching that you may receive from anyone. An empowered mind can deliver the circumstances, and the opportunities to create wealth and well-being on a scale never before thought possible.

Maximizing the minds ability to perform brings such clarity of thought and an intuition as sharp as a knife. Self-trust is heightened and focus becomes crystal clear enabling you to act upon your intuition immediately, which is known as 'speed of implementation'. Almost every successful entrepreneur credits their success to the fact that they very often acted immediately upon their intuition.

Improving your mind also means increased concentration, greater awareness, enhanced memory and an improved sense of self. Additionally, increased overall well-being is achieved with an improved mindset, because scientifically speaking the body follows the mind.

Those of us who see the importance of improving the mind as it relates to success in every area of our lives, can tap into immense power by starting with a few exercises for sharpening the mind.

Calm the Mind

Meditation is an excellent way to stop the mind chatter that we all experience. A calm mind is the starting point for an empowered mind. Many people find meditation to be mysterious or difficult, but investing in a meditation program like Centerpointe Research Holosync that allows you to meditate effortlessly is one of the best things you can do for yourself when it comes to improving your mind.

Crack Open A Book

If you go long periods of time without reading a book, especially a book that can enhance your knowledge base or engage critical thinking then it is equivalent to going long periods of time without exercising your body. Both are detrimental! This partial list of excellent books can get you started in the right direction:

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life - Wayne Dyer

Think and Grow Rich ! - Napole on Hill

Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu

The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

Tease Yourself

Regularly indulge in brain teasers, crosswords, concentration card games and puzzles. This type of activity stimulates the brain function and actually creates new neural pathways which expand the brain capacity. It's good news to know that doing fun things can actually contribute to maximizing the mind! Have fun, relax and don't take yourself so seriously. Life is supposed to be FUN!

Our quest for success is for one thing and one thing only…. happiness! We think that we will be HAPPY if we have more money, more freedom, a bigger house, a fancier car, luxurious vacations, fame, or whatever it is that you desire to have…..

…..we all want one thing… to be happy.

So, BE HAPPY! It's a choice. You'll understand this as you improve your mind, and watch as your life improves.

"What Is Enlightenment?" Adyashanti

Many people think that enlightenment is an altered state of consciousness. Actually, what we perceive every day through the distorted lens of ego is the truly altered state -- we see things that don't exist, we believe things that aren't happening, and we live in a false world of our own creation. In this direct and practical satsang, Adyashanti opens the door into the clear seeing that is our natural state of enlightenment.

Meditation hindrances and how to work with them

Posted: 17 Dec 2011 08:00 AM PST

I remember my first weekend retreat at Aryaloka Spiritual Consciousness Center in the summer of 1993. I took the weekend "off" from family and work obligations to learn how to meditate and take an Introduction to Buddhism class. My first meditation experience in the Meditation Hall at Aryaloka was blissful – even the outdoor birdsong quieted and the stillness was palpable.

During that first meditation class, I was excited to learn the list hindrances to meditation: sensual desire, ill will, sloth and torpor, restlessness and anxiety and skeptical doubt. I could relate to that list because I experienced those hindrances off the cushion too, to varying degrees, and regularly.

Having the list of hindrances was helpful because when I mediated and watched the antics of my mind, I had a way of working in meditation to move beyond them… sometimes.

The hindrances distract our minds with mundane thoughts that can, and often do, become obsessive. If we are obsessing about mundane issues, we are distracted from our spiritual work and spiritual progress.

Let's explore the hindrances

1. Sensual desire (kamacchanda)

Our meditations often reveal what we desire and crave. We sit down to meditate, to still the mind and find calm and tranquility and we start thinking about a person we are attracted to, or the aroma of the bread baking in the oven in our kitchen, or the concert we have tickets for – you know what's on your list.

When we compulsively crave sensual pleasures (sex, food etc.) we are alienated from the depth of the here and now and from those people, places, thoughts and activities that are in the present moment. So there is nothing wrong with sensual pleasure, but when it becomes compulsive we distract ourselves from being present to the moment, being present to our lives.

When we become aware of our sensual desire we can bring our awareness back to the focus of the meditation. We can look at what we desire and see through our projections and unrealistic expectations. We can look at what discomfort might be beneath the compulsive desire. For instance, when we are distracted by thinking about someone we are attracted to, we may be distracting ourselves from looking at something that is troubling us in our relationships, or disappointment in not achieving a goal, or something we are concerned about. We might ask ourselves "What am I trying to distract myself from?"

Guarding the doors of the sense is a way of working with sense desire. This involves recognizing what situations, images and thoughts create sensual desire and avoiding them. For instance, when on a retreat or when meditating in a group, avoiding conversations just before the meditation.

2. Ill-will (byapada)

Ill will, or aversion, like sensual desire, obstructs our ability to be mindful and free and alienates us from kindness. We feel constricted and reactive rather than open-hearted and expansive.

Ill will can be sparked by:

  • remembering what we heard a friend say about us that was hurtful
  • going over an angry interchange with a relative
  • wishing we had something that someone else has (a material possession, a relationship, confidence, teaching ability etc.).

We can work with this hindrance by questioning the ill will, noticing the effects on our bodies, how it affects our energy and what it might be covering up such as frustrated ambition, fear, embarrassment or protection from feeling disappointment.

When we are aware of ill will, being attentive to it and stopping ourselves from fanning its flames will help it to dissolve and build confidence in our ability to be present and mindful.

When working with ill will, I realized I have reacted to someone or a situation, and come to see that the ill will was centered in my own story line or way of interpreting someone's action or comment. Working with ill will offers the opportunity to have compassion toward myself and other people.

Practicing and cultivating the metta bhavana, empathy, equanimity and meditating on karma are good antidotes for ill will.

3. Sloth and torpor (thina-middha)

Sloth is a lack of energy and alertness to keep interested in the focus of meditation. We feel drowsy and sleepy and it feels as though our vitality and effort are limited.

Torpor is a lack of mental energy. The mind is dull or easily drifts in thought. This hindrance may be a result of discouragement, frustration, boredom, indifference, hopelessness or resistance.

Sloth and torpor may be overcome by consciously arousing more energy by walking meditation; sitting up with a more erect, energized posture; opening the eyes; washing the face with cool water; opening a window or bringing curiosity and finding interest in the object of meditation.

Bringing curiosity to why we are feeling sloth and torpor, understanding how particular thoughts, beliefs, and evaluations feed into the hindrance can be helpful.

Being mindful of what we eat before meditation and how what we eat affects our energy in meditation, reflection on impermanence and the importance of practicing here and now, reflecting on a dharmic topic that inspires us are all ways to work with this hindrance.

4. Restlessness and worry, anxiety or remorse (uddhacca-kukkucca)

This hindrance manifests as being unable to settle and concentrate due to a physical feeling of wanting to move the body and is accompanied by memories and thoughts about things we are worried about or feel remorseful for.

We may feel agitated and restless, unsettled and uncomfortable. It takes courage, patience and discipline to stay with discomfort and explore our thoughts and actions to understand what triggers them (frustrated desire, pent-up aversion, fear and resentment, dissatisfaction).

I have found reflection, writing in a journal and talking with spiritual friends helpful in working with this hindrance. Walking meditation, yoga and exercise are also helpful when dealing with restlessness and worry; and confession is beneficial when dealing with regret and remorse.

Remembering how it feels to be still and calm may help. Remembering to consciously breathe or focusing on the ongoing rhythm of breathing, can calm the body. The more attention that is given to breathing, the less attention is available to fuel the restlessness or worry.

Strong opinions about what is or is not supposed to be happening, judgments of what is "good and bad" seldom lead to calm. Attachment to a self-image can be agitating. It can be liberating to realize that we don't have to believe every thought we have.

5. Skeptical doubt (vicikiccha)

This hindrance manifests as uncertainty about meditation ("Does meditation really work?") and in one's ability ("I'm not good at meditating.") and culminates in a lack of confidence.

Some doubt inspires action and the impulse to understand, encourages deeper investigation and can be healthy.

Doubt that hinders meditation is a doubt in the practice, in the Dharmic teachings, in one's teachers, and/or in oneself. When doubt involves uncertainty about the practice or the teachings, it is helpful to study and reflect on the Dharma itself.

Questioning deeply held beliefs, attending to unresolved feelings, challenging ingrained convictions about self-identity, remembering something that inspires us in the practice (such as a teaching, a person, or some experience you have had in the practice) can all help to dissipate doubt.

Working with the hindrances can help us to answer the following queries:

  • Where do I put my attention?
  • What thoughts and actions fuel my mind to fixate its attention on what I want or don't want?
  • How can I apply mindfulness rather than allowing this mental activity to continue?
  • How can I work with this impulse to preoccupation and obsessive thinking?
  • How can I bring curiosity and exploration, understanding, kindness and non-reactivity to my meditation practice?

Working with the hindrances can strengthen our faith, our firm conviction in the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha and remind us of why we meditate and practice ethics and how much we value our practice.

Faith gladdens the heart, clears away the hindrances and breathes life into our efforts to continue our path to freedom.

Inner Peace and the Power of the Mind

Posted: 17 Dec 2011 07:00 AM PST

Article by Tony Robinson

The mind composes of emotions and thoughts, which stem from the subconscious mind and the conscious mind. The mind has audio and visual capabilities, which invokes the triggers that stressors slam on our emotions.

After years of dealing with stressors, stress, words, sounds, observations, teachings, et cetera, the mind comes to the terms that it needs to decide what is lacking to reach inner peace. We hear lies, philosophies, theories, truths, opinions, and case studies throughout our lifetime, thus the mind overloaded searches for the truths of each piece of information going through the channels of the brain.

Traditions, beliefs and standards compose when the mind reaches certain faze of development. The beliefs, standards and traditions integrate into our minds by influences, experience, teachings, politics, law and religion.

Criminal justice instigated and enforced a history of pain and suffering, while many religions work hard to convince the mind of their beliefs, standards and traditions. Religion alone is a broad influence that evokes thoughts and triggers the emotions. As created souls, on earth we are here to fulfill needs, desires, and a spiritual part of our souls.

If our mind lacks what we need that makes an entire human being feel peace, thus the mind works on emotions that lead people in to chaos.

To find inner peace you must reach deep within your mind, which controls our entire being, searching for what you need to restore your peace of mind. To do this you must come to grips with your emotions, mind, and remove any guile that clams the emotions. You must also search your heart to learn if any guile paints your mind into a world of negative thinking, guilt, or doubts.

Doubts mean that you have not found a truth in particular information that came available in your mind through teaching, observation, sound, et cetera. Doubt can also exist when a person is in a relationship. Finding where the doubt is stemming from will help you to put the p! ieces to gether to find the truths and satisfy the emotions.

From the beginning of time, our creation included a conscious and subconscious. When we are conscious and in touch with our subconscious mind it shows strong character, positive persuasion, convictions, and inner peace.

The subconscious mind is similar to the emotions with the different that the emotions when triggered act out in several ways, while the subconscious mind prompts the emotions. The emotions may not have an answer at the time it is triggered, since the subconscious mind is storing data linked to the stress occurred by the trigger, thus finding peace with the subconscious mind is finding inner peace.

We all have a past and stemming from our past is guile that accumulated down through the years. The guile stores itself in either the conscious mind or subconscious mind and waits for the right moment to display itself to self or others. Some of us have very haunting pasts, thus recommendation to trauma patients searching for inner peace, should be to search the subconscious mind in a safe haven, or at your counselors office.

It is far too dangerous in some instances for trauma patients to attempt finding their inner peace. Still it is doable. The subconscious has the truths stored within, since the beginning of our creation; we have the ability to find the truth.

Finding the truth is a long process, however at the end of the road is a bright future waiting for you. When a person comes to terms with the subconscious mind, thus the emotions learn to relax.

To find inner peace self-talk can direct you along the path. Learning self-talk skills will help you to come in contact with your emotions, thoughts, subconscious mind, beliefs, traditions, et cetera. Self-talk guides you through the chambers of your mind, into the world of your past and future, and will help you to determine what you want from life.

Thus, the conclusion says it all, since when you know what you want out of life, inner peace gui! des you the rest of the way through your journey of reaching your goals, going for your dreams, and filling your desires.

Meditation techniques How Do I Meditate?

Posted: 17 Dec 2011 06:00 AM PST

Article by Mike Tinnenmen}

When your mind's distracted by external noises, instead of thoughts, just get back to your breath. If you're in a very quiet place, your mind can be just as loud as if you were in a noisy crowd. Don't fight that noise, but acknowledge it and go to your breath. Concentrate on breathing in, breathing out, slowly and deeply. What you will find is that no matter where you are, no matter what circumstances are occurring in your life, you can still meditate each and every day. Remember you can meditate anywhere, anytime; just be present and at peace. When you are just getting started with meditation, you will find that there are several good places for meditating. Many people find outdoor locations like deserted beaches, or quiet, scenic locations to be great for meditating. The key to finding a good spot is to find a place that is quiet, clean, comfortable and peaceful. There are many different types of meditation, but if you don't want to be confused by lots of different details and schools of thought, just make it a point to practice mindful meditation. You want your meditative practice to be personal and unique only to you. You can create your own oasis, by selecting soft music that you like, and surrounding yourself with essential oils in your favorite blend. You can also learn to meditate in a hot, fragrant bath surrounded by lit candles. While you are meditating, you want to make sure that you are breathing deeply from the bottom of your belly. Gradually as you take in deep breaths, you should try to make your mind blank and let your conscious thoughts go where they want. Don't think about them, or worry that they're there or try to figure anything out.Make sure you choose a meditation area that is free of distraction. That might mean that you have to let others in your household know that you have set aside time for meditation, and that you don't want to be disturbed. One thing you can do to make meditation truly special is to schedule your daily meditation time every day like you would an importan! t meetin g, or a much anticipated shopping trip.It can be helpful if you learn to meditate during the same time every day. For people who find it hard to clear their mind, meditation music is truly essential. Soft, meditative music really helps to clear the mind and prepare it for meditative concentration. You want anything in your musical and physical environment that will make you think of serenity. You can usually find free music that you can use for meditation all over the Internet available for download.Key Steps to Implement When You Learn to MeditateMany people find closing their eyes ideal for meditation, but you might want to focus on one spot in the room with your eyes open, like a candle's flame or a picture on the wall. Become aware of your breaths in and out.Meditation can also be part of your religious practice. Meditation is a recommended part of many major religions including Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism and Zen Buddhism. There are many mental benefits to meditation as well. These benefits include a feeling of inner peace, stress relief, tension relief, increased concentration, greater self-awareness, and greater clarity of mind.

SPIRITUALITY AND VEDIC ASTROLOGY

Posted: 17 Dec 2011 05:00 AM PST

Article by Jyotishacharya Vinay Sheel Saxena

With the growth of cosmic consciousness, awareness of spiritual astrology grows. Queries come up regarding spiritual development. Search for answers and solutions begin with Vedic Astrology. A horoscope is not only a photo of your material and psychological world but also your spiritual world.

In a material world you identify yourself with your name and all that you come in contact through your senses. On psychological level you resemble yourself with your actions, behaviour and thoughts. On spiritual level you start recognizing that part of yourself who is always present as evidence of material and psychological levels. Since ages even sages were seeking astrologers to know about their spiritual path and progress. You can get your horoscope made and watch your spiritual photo clearly, learn to interpret it and progress on the path you have chosen. The joy of growing consciousness through the light of the cosmos should shower on you. Feel blessed through the unique opportunity of knowing it and enjoying it.

The truth of what is really happening in life, in the Eastern sense, is that you are a spiritual being. You come here to Earth. Past and future lifetimes are not sources of speculation in the Indian system and culture: they are assumed to be true. In this way, the circumstances of your life now have been determined by your actions in past lifetimes, and in this one. How you handle these circumstances determines your future lifetimes. This process is called "the law of karma." Vedic - or Indian -- astrology is the process of reading your soul's karma, and is deeply connected to spiritual practices. They are the source of Indian spirituality and mysticism

The spiritual implications of this are vast. In a very literal sense, Vedic astrology is considered to be a "soul mapping". In Vedic thinking, you are formed by the "seven rays of light" -- the visible planets and their energies. As your life on Earth is a journey toward spiritual perfection, you can better understand that! journey through each of the seven principles -- the seven visible planets (and the two shadow planets: the lunar nodes of Rahul and Ketu).

For example, the Sun is your level of confidence and your capacity to express yourself in a fulfilling and dignified way. When it is powerful, you do not over express yourself, nor do you avoid self-expression or responsibility due to a lack of confidence. The Moon is in your capacity to be receptive to life, without protecting yourself from the things you are afraid to receive. When it is powerful, you do not cling too much, like a mother who will not let go of her children, nor do you avoid emotional involvement due to fear of loss.

What is Spirituality?"Spirituality is the science and the art of remembrance"

Astrology says Spirituality really begins where religion ends." Spirituality is easily identifiable with mysticism. The mystic or spiritual journey is an inner journey of the heart. One of the great tenets or principles of all religions has been that God resides in the heart of the human being. Spirituality is the need for an inner existence.

Thus, Indian spirituality is all about showing respect to all living beings-animals trees, rocks and even water and lead a positive and healthy life. It is believed that the supreme Creator has put each one of us in this world for a purpose and that purpose is to be compassionate, caring and loving to one-another. As mentioned earlier, the great Indian spiritual personalities and gurus have played an important role in spreading the message of love, care and the need for positive living all over the world.

Why Spirituality? Spirituality has been defined in numerous ways. These include: a belief in a power operating in the universe that is greater than oneself; a sense of interconnectedness with all living creatures; and an awareness of the purpose and meaning of life and the development of personal, absolute values.

It's the way you find meaning, hope, comfort, and inner peace in your lif! e. Altho ugh spirituality is often associated with religious life, many believe that personal spirituality can be developed outside of religion. Acts of compassion and selflessness, altruism, and the experience of inner peace are all characteristics of spirituality. Many Americans are becoming interested in the role of spirituality in their health and health care. This may be because of dissatisfaction with the impersonal nature of our current medical system, and the realization that medical science does not have answers to every question about health and wellness.

As a bird needs two wings to fly, so a human being needs the two wings of existence, the spiritual and the material, to lead a natural and harmonious life.(Balancing material and spiritual lives) Spirituality teaches us to balance our aspirations in these two fields. However, in today's world the demands of material living call out so loudly that they often capture the lion's share of our attention. By contrast, the call of spirituality, sometimes referred to as 'the still, small voice within', is subtle and quiet. Considering the demands of daily living that compete for our attention, it takes a special determination to make room for our inner life.

Based on many subtle techniques, a Vedic astrologer unravels the delicate threads and experiences of this lifetime, framing them against the larger backdrop of your soul's eternal nature and the karmic lessons you are here to learn. At best, Vedic astrology offers a very objective look into your soul's evolution. You realize that there is a divine plan, and remember the divine intelligence that is keeping everything moving forward, you'll see the beauty of all life situations, even ones that don't feel good in the moment.

Vedic astrology is an amazing tool for helping you make life decisions that inspire happiness. But the true power of Vedic astrology is its ability to shed light on "why" you are in pain, what the deeper soul lesson is. In this way, rather than using astrology as anot! her way to try to "get what you want", Vedic astrology is an incredibly powerful tool to help reveal who you really are, beyond all of the worldly desires and day-to-day distractions.

Pineal Gland 101: Pineal Gland Activation

VIDEO BY SHAKTIPATSEER www.youtube.com Pineal Gland 101: Pineal Gland Activation The pineal gland was the last endocrine gland to have its function discovered. Its location deep in the brain seemed to indicate its importance. This combination led to its being a "mystery" gland with myth, superstition and even metaphysical theories surrounding its perceived function. The pineal gland is occasionally associated with the sixth chakra (also called Ajna or the third eye chakra in yoga). It is believed by some to be a dormant organ that can be awakened to enable "telepathic" communication. In the physical body the eye views objects upside down. It sends the image of what it observes to the brain which interprets the image and makes it appear right side-up to us. But the human body has another physical eye whose function has long been recognized by humanity. It is called the 'Third Eye' which in reality is the Pineal Gland. It is long thought to have mystical powers. Many consider it the Spiritual Third Eye, our Inner Vision.

Spin Bike For Weight Loss, Stronger Heart, And Stress Reduction

Posted: 17 Dec 2011 04:00 AM PST

Article by Wilma Lojewski

Spin bikes became popular with the invention of cycling classes in the 1980th. In such classes, a group of people performs intensive training on spin bikes. An instructor leads the workout and music motivates the class members. As a result, more and more spin bikes get used for cardio exercises at home. Such calorie consuming workout supports weight loss but is also beneficial for general health and fitness.

Spin bikes often are considered to be expensive, but there is a wide range of prices as well as famous brands. A lot of them cost more than 1,000 Dollars, and they are mostly worth the money. Schwinn, the flagship of indoor bike producers, offers at least 3 indoor cycle trainers between 1,000 and 2,000 Dollars. That might be too much for many people especially for beginners. Other brands, such as Stamina, ProForm or Sunny present spin bikes for list prices around 450 - 600 Dollars. Often we can get those bikes for about 300 Dollars.

One excellent example is the ProForm 290 SPX indoor cycle trainer with a list price of 599 but often offered for ca. 300 Dollars. This sturdy cycle trainer provides all necessary features for an authentic cycling workout. Here is an extremely brief ProForm 290 SPX review summary: Despite complaints about an uncomfortable saddle (which can be solved by padded bike shorts), the bike is highly praised, it seems to be the best spin bike in this price category.

It is the technology what makes a spin bike remarkable. The flywheel technology simulates real bike riding extremely closely with momentum and inertia. Users can increase or decrease the frequency of pedaling to simulate changing speed. They can simulate different gradients with a little knop, and, for example, stand while pedaling to master the "steep hill".

A healthy indoor cycle training begins with a warm up phase. The exerciser pedals comfortably for 10 minutes. Then the harder training follows, such as simulating a bike ride in a hilly area or simply an energetic ride on the same le! vel. Int ervall training is another exciting workout what can be performed extremely well on a spin bike: After the warm up, we alternate longer phases of slower pedaling with short phases of intensely pedaling, for example, two minutes slow and one minute as fast as possible. Such a workout should always end with a tardy recovery phase.

Beginners better start carefully. After the smooth warm up, they simply can pedal to get a feeling for the spin bike. Another excellent idea might be to participate in a spinning class before buying an indoor cycle bike. Most instructors consider the needs of the group members, so everybody can take part. Such a training in a group with energetic music is fun.

No matter whether one uses the ProForm SPX 290 cycle trainer or an upscale spinning bike, we burn about 500 calories or even more in one hour during an energetic spin bike ride. That boosts weight loss. It also strengthens the heart and lungs. Besides, there are other benefits for overall health and fitness, for example, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure but better flexibility and endurance. Last but not least, such workout fights stress and even helps to master difficult life situations.

THE MIND AND CRITICAL FACTOR

Posted: 17 Dec 2011 04:00 AM PST

Mindfulness
by RubyJi

Article by Tony Robinson

What is hypnosis? Hypnosis is actually a state of consciousness whereby a person goes in and out of every day. Typically, you could compare hypnosis as daydreaming where the mind wanders but you are still fully aware of your surroundings. While in the state of hypnosis, the subconscious mind is given suggestions by a professional hypnotist or hypnotherapist. Once these suggestions are accepted, the person is capable of making change. As an example, if the hypnotist or hypnotherapist were to guide you with suggestions for losing weight, you would hear and accept these suggestions and begin to make changes in how you ate and lived, thus weight loss.

This initial state of hypnosis is known as Alpha, a time when the brain wave vibration rate begins to slow way down. With that, you are able to "surrender" your subconscious mind although the conscious mind is still fully aware but in a relaxed state. As you can imagine, hypnosis is an empowering tool that can make a huge difference in improving life. The interesting thing about hypnosis is that it simply uses the natural process we all have for negative change to be transformed into positive behaviors and patterns.

To understand hypnosis further, you need to understand the five components needed before you could be hypnotized. These include concentration, relaxation, motivation, suggestion, and imagination. The application of hypnosis is based completely on the conscious and subconscious mind's connection. Since your subconscious mind is not capable of reasoning, it then accepts and acts on suggestion given via the conscious mind. Therefore, these five components must be in place for the conscious mind to be used as a tool for the suggestion given by the hypnotist or hypnotherapist to reach the subconscious mind.

Let us talk about this a little more...you see, the conscious mind accounts for 10% of the mind. This part of your brain is what makes you aware of current events and surroundings. When you decide to watch a specific televisi! on show or eat a sandwich, you are making a conscious decision with the conscious mind. This part of the brain is analytical and logical, which is why we spend the majority of our time in the conscious mind. Without the conscious mind, four primary functions could not happen. These include problem solving through evaluation, automatic decision-making, will power, and working memory.

The remaining part of the mind is the subconscious, which makes up the other 90%. Keep in mind that information stored in the subconscious mind often influences the conscious mind. Although the subconscious mind serves many important purposes, the most important is its ability to automatically, control the body in the sense of your heart beating, breathing, blinking, and even the way in which the bones, muscles, organs, and tissues all interact with the cellular level.

The exciting aspect of the subconscious mind is that this is where we get our creativity and intuitive nature. The subconscious mind is also responsible for emotion and irrational behavior. The downside of the subconscious mind is that it allows us to wander into unreasonable and illogical territory, leading into negative behavior. However, the subconscious is also, where our belief system, core values, and memory reside. Unlike the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, much like a computer, can be reprogrammed.

Another part of the conscious mind is known as the Critical Factor. This part of the mind is similar to a gate between the conscious and subconscious mind, having the power to reject or accept suggestions. The Critical Factor's job is to protect and serve. What happens in this case is that the Critical Factor looks at change as something threatening and because it is trying to offer you protection, rejection occurs.

Therefore, any suggestions made that do not coordinate with what is programmed are rejected. For hypnosis to work in helping you make change is to bypass the Critical Factor through emotions, habits, and even memories. By w! orking w ith a professional hypnotist or hypnotherapist, the Critical Factor can be bypassed. The result is that whatever change you are trying to achieve can be yours.

I'm In 3 Minds About This Article

Posted: 17 Dec 2011 03:00 AM PST

Article by Jonathan Martin Clark

You probably know that you have a conscious mind, don't you? The part of you that answered - that was it! It likes experience, knowledge, mental power, analysis and rationality. It also likes respect, admiration, significance and success. It's focussed on specifics, likes order and sequence, and it usually kicks in at about age five. Unfortunately, it's also an expert in denying and avoiding pain. But did you know that you also have an unconscious..........mind as well? And you may also realise that you have a Higher Self too. This is the second major teaching of HGE - that you are of three minds.

Our ancestors used to teach this, as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Ever wonder why it's in that order? This trinity is present in every tradition on the planet. The Pope's cross has 3 horizontal bars, the Cardinal's only two, and the Priests only has one. Hmmm. Or the Lovers Card in the Major Arcana of the Tarot Cards. There's a man (conscious mind) looking at a woman (unconscious mind), but she's looking above him at an angel (higher self) which he can't see. Think of it as the child, the parent and the grandparent. You'll never be alone again when you realise that there's three of you in there.

You're more than just a Conscious Mind. It thinks, "I am". But you also have an unconscious Mind with feelings, "I feel". It runs your body, beats your heart, stores your memories, controls your emotions. It's sometimes called the "body/mind". It's like a timid animal with basic desires and a mental age of about five years old. It adores food, clothes, security, sex, fun, the five senses and safety. It has no words.

You always know you're really at the unconscious level when you have no words for the feelings you're experiencing. Any time you criticise yourself, you're criticising your unconscious mind. People treat their pets better than their own unconscious. Society likes to keep you out of here - men are taught to be unemotional, therapists will help you manage your anger (rather than! clear i t up completely) and prescription drugs suppress your true feelings. They're still there, you just can't feel them. So the next time a red light appears on your car dashboard, just paint black paint over it. It's still a problem, but at least you can't see it.

Many believe you have a third self, the Higher Conscious Mind also, with still more, higher functions, such as wisdom, order, justice, ecology, peace, truth, perfection and evolution. This is the spiritual part of you, your guardian angel, and it looks down at you like a totally trustworthy parent gazing lovingly on a perfect child (you). It creates anything that you ask for, (whether dwell on good things or bad) including health and energy, as well as more tangible goals.

Now there's a connection linking the Conscious Mind to the Unconscious Mind, and another linking the Unconscious Mind to your Higher Self. But there's no direct connection between the Conscious Mind and the Higher Self. The only way to get communication with your Higher Self, is to first learn how to connect with your unconscious mind. Hence the use of Hypnosis, or trance in HGE, where you go inside...

The Physical body is the vehicle for the whole package. That's why visualisation with feeling works better than affirmation - the former impacts the unconscious mind, and thus the Emotional and Physical bodies. Affirmations are Mental body, conscious statements. Does that make sense?

Daddy Bray, a Hawaiian teacher or Kahuna said that the lesson of life is for the Unconscious Mind to become conscious, and for the Conscious Mind to become a Higher Self. Your conscious mind's job is to teach the unconscious mind and grow it up, so it becomes a conscious mind. Strive to make the hidden contents of your unconscious, conscious. He also said that the lesson of Mastery was for the Higher Self to come down into the consciousness, and for the conscious mind to merge with the unconscious.

Become a Higher self and integrate that back into your physical life.! Bring y our spiritual nature all the way down into the physical body. Then you can truly and profoundly affect other people in your daily life.

Oh and by the way, your unconscious mind looks up at you like an awestruck child - you are a God in it's eyes. Your Higher Self looks down at you as perfect, in every way, right now. It's only your conscious mind that needs convincing...

Guide to Buddhist Meditation

Posted: 17 Dec 2011 01:00 AM PST

Article by Rasmus Lindgren

When seeking a top quality Guide to Buddhist Meditation, you should be looking for far more than a good read; an interesting book that may give you a few helpful pointers regarding the finer points of meditative theory and practice. For while the market is flooded with a wide variety of yoga and meditation books, a true Buddhist meditation guide will offer far more than suggestions for positions and techniques, and outline much more than just the expected benefits of the meditative practice.Indeed, a good guide to Buddhist meditation will be just that; a comprehensive yet easy to read primer that will tell you everything you need to know, about everything from theories to positions to innovations in this area. And this volume of facts and theories should inform you, not only about meditation, but about the integrated and complex school of Buddhist thought that lies behind it.This will not be a cheap pop culture text that defines a popular fad; and unfortunately, in the eyes of some, meditation has become a fad. No, a true Buddhist meditation guide will give you a basic working history of Buddhism, with all its theories, leaders, meanings and benefits. The book will approach this subject from a variety of angles, giving you a quick but needed education in the time-honored discipline of Buddhist meditation. You will learn all about the deep sense of peace and enlightenment available through the Buddhist lifestyle. You will learn how to purify and sanctify your life, and how to integrate the precepts of Buddhism into your everyday existence. Most of all, you will learn how to meditate in a way that is, not only relaxing, but truly fulfilling and enlightening. Far from just taking up a new hobby, you just may be inspired to adopt a whole new way of life.Essentially, a good Buddhist meditation guide will not be a general listing of positions and techniques. The book instead will be a trusted friend that will guide you on your journey to meditative success, outlining any problems or challenges you may fa! ce along the way; and providing you with enough power and inspiration, not only to overcome these challenges, but to thrive in their wake. Ultimately, you will master the art of meditation. Perhaps one day you will become an instructor, a master, or even a monk; and someday, you may even write your own Buddhist meditation book.By the time you finish a good Guide to Buddhist Meditation, you will know about far more than the basic techniques, theories and practices of meditation. You will be awakened to a whole new, wonderful world: the timeless and divine world of Buddhism.

When you are feeling the time is up, slowly start to stretch out, you start with your fingers. Give yourself a few minutes or so to come out of meditation. I was instructed that the more accurate interpretation is 'Inner Activity - Outer Passivity'. This can be done standing or perched. I will describe standing because the device generates a much greater feeling from internal strength not to mention power, which is actually a contrast to the best technique. If much of your aim is towards relax and enable, seated is okay. Stand up and allow the knees for you to sag slightly (if you desire to go deeper right into Chi Gong, move the knees more), when using the feet straight or turned in to some degree. Rock the pelvis slightly so your natural arch of this back is squashed, and imagine that the crown of the head is being suspended by just a string from previously. Touch your superior palate lightly with all your tongue just behind the main ridge (slide any tongue back within your teeth until felt the ridge, go along the slope and stop. Lastly, bring your hands around as you are holding any imaginary 12' -15' ball looking at you. Keep a person's shoulders relaxed. This would be the set up posi! tion per mitting maximum Chi electric power to flow. After you have done it a few times, it will develop into second nature. Now, everything required do is slowly but surely breathe diaphragmatically in in the nose and allow your power to sink lower. You can imagine you can be a great shrub rooted firmly to ground (this gives a sense of strength and power), or that your chosen diaphragm are bellows, pumping energy around your body, or that you are at the side of a waterfall, as the mist caresses most people it washes away your entire worries. Choose any creation that works for everyone. The keys usually are; stillness, power and sinking your efforts down. If you really feel a heat in your hands this is definitely pure Chi energy. Play with the software! These are not one but two different yet very simple meditation techniques to work on your excursion to self enchancment. I hope you love it using them. Please contact me over the links below to read more or support. .Meditation is steps involved in self-relaxation. This is self-training to manage the mind such that you can keep different degrees about conscience.

David Duchovny shoveled horse manure at Zen monastery

Posted: 16 Dec 2011 11:00 PM PST

Actor David Duchovny recently spent a weekend shovelling horse manure as part of a Zen Buddhism meditation retreat.

The Californication star escaped to upstate New York for a few days to join a monastery programme aimed at helping guests find inner peace through meditation.

But Duchovny admits the stay wasn't as relaxing as he thought it would be – because he was put to work as soon as he arrived.
He says, "I just went on a retreat to a zen monastery in upstate New York. It's a type of Buddhism and meditation is a big part of it…

"I'm a beginner, I've only …

Happiest time on Christmas day is 1:55 pm

Posted: 16 Dec 2011 10:00 PM PST

London, Dec 17 : The happiest time on Christmas Day for most people is early afternoon, at 1:55 pm, a study has revealed.

It emerged that people are completely happy only after presents have been opened, dinner has been cooked and served, and the children are busy with their toys.

Despite the initial stress, over half of those polled say Christmas Day is their favorite holiday and a third say it's the happiest day of the year.

The study, which included over 2000 people, was commissioned by Three Barrels Brandy.

"A lot of thought and effort goes into each and every Christmas, and people work hard to make it special and create memories that will last a lifetime," the Telegraph quoted a spokesman for Three Barrels Brandy as saying.

"Christmas morning tends to be a rush in most households - mums are struggling with the dinner, children are unwrapping presents, and dads are finding batteries to go in the toys.

"It's important to try and enjoy those more hectic moments as well, as these often make the funniest Christmas memories and will be told at Christmas' for years to come," he added.

Three quarters of those polled claimed the Christmas dinner is largely responsible for any stress endured on the morning of the 25th.

Once dinner is on the table, 56 per cent of people reach their happiest point of the day.

"It's sometimes easy to get carried away with the planning and worry that comes with arranging Christmas, and before you know it it's been and gone," the spokesman said.

"On Christmas Day, most adults are more concerned about creating a happy day for everyone else, but it is important that people can enjoy the holiday for themselves as well," he added. (ANI)

Every day I hear from people who are just learning SEO

Posted: 16 Dec 2011 08:00 PM PST

Article by amrit.jan2009

I don't get a chance to read much that isn't related to search marketing these days, but since I'm traveling more, I've been using those long plane flights to read different types of books for the help http://www.keyword-swipe.com. One of my favorites has been Dr. Wayne Dyer's "The Power of Intention," which I bought after seeing him speak on public television. In the "The Power of Intention" every sentence has a powerful meaning that really needs to be pondered in order to get the most out of it. When I read a book that is packed with such deep concepts, I find that the best thing for me to do is read through it once without trying to grasp everything that is being said. At that point I find that I have understood the information at only a very basic level. I may know what the author is talking about, and I may not be confused by it, but I really can't verbalize it to anyone else. I'm now on my third or fourth read of Dyer's book, and am a bit more at home with the concepts he presents, but I find that with each read I get more and more out of it.Currently, I'm reading another book on a similar topic, but it's presented in a totally different manner. This book ("The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle) has helped me further understand Dr. Dyer's book, just as Dyer's book has helped me understand this book. I've also realized there is so much to learn on this subject that I'm sure I could read a hundred books and never understand everything.By now, I'm sure you're totally confused and wondering what the heck my personal reading habits have to do with SEO. Stay with me, as I do have a point! When I think about the vast information that *any* subject contains, be it SEO or personal growth, I realize that when people first get interested in something, there's a steep learning curve involved. Every day I hear from people who are just learning SEO, and they're simply not grasping what I consider the very basic concepts. For those of us who live and breathe SEO, it's sometimes difficult to step back and reme! mber wha t it was like when we were first learning.Even though SEO isn't as complicated as Zen Buddhism, it's still going to take most newbies a lot of time and study to truly understand things at a fundamental level. For those of you just starting to learn SEO for the help http://www.thesearchengineprimer.com, you may read some of the more ethereal stuff written on the topic (such as my "Art of SEO" article) and simply not be able to grasp it -- yet. But don't despair! If you immerse yourself in the topic, you will find that every day you understand more and more. When practiced at the level of those of us who've been in the game for 5-10 years, SEO is in fact very Zen-like. We can look at a website and know exactly what needs to be done to make it the best it can be for the site visitors and the search engines. Often, it's easiest for us when we can just roll up our sleeves and do what we know needs to be done, rather than try to explain the whys and wherefores. Many times it's not even possible to explain exactly why we are doing a specific thing, because it simply comes from the gut. Unfortunately, many clients and even more budding SEOs aren't cool with the explanation "it just feels right"!There will always be SEOs who need to do their work based on some logical, formulaic reasoning. These people may never be able to simply trust their own instincts. To them, it can't just "feel right," because search algorithms and how to beat them have got to have a logical explanation. However, as time marches on, search engines are becoming ever more sophisticated. The logical among us have all kinds of theories and acronyms (e.g. LSI) that supposedly explain how the engines will be determining relevancy in the future. Personally, I prefer to believe that they're simply adding a "Zen factor" to the mix!www.search-engine-premiere.comwww.sitemap-makers.com
