Dangers of Using Mind Powers

An estimated level of ten percent in our mind power, is all Scientists conclude we use. You can only let's suppose we could actually access that ninety percent that we don't currently use. Incredible recent results for sure!

In fact, some scientists have long belief that those with so-called 'extrasensory' perception or psychic powers have these powers simply because they can actually access some other part of the brain that other individuals can't. They might have been born on this extra mindpower, or they might have been competent to develop this mind power later on.

Even though it has not been totally comprehended, the advances we've produced in quantum physics is starting to reveal the true link of what we experience in your life, and our thoughts. Mind power is reality!

Research has shown that our minds just might change the world in excess of the world can adjust our minds!

Popular books like 'The Secret' explain the idea that people may use their mindpower to switch the world around them through what is known the law of attraction.

Basically, legal requirements of attraction explains how the principle of cause and effect applies to your own thoughts. Similar to our actions, our thoughts are a cause containing an effect and when focused, out thoughts can offer the effects which we would like to achieve.

What which means is that your subconscious is certainly in charge of ESP powers like remote viewing, telepathy, and precognition. However, in addition, it reacts with exactly what do be known as the 'universal consciousness,' or universe in general, to manifest all you could ever want.

If you would like develop your mind power to its fullest potential, you need to communicate directly along with your subconscious mind. How will you do this, though? There are numerous ways you can try this.

Practice using affirmations:- Many people know what affirmations are and how to use them. If you repeat a good phrase to yourself many times a day, your subco! nscious eventually believes that message and changes you reality for that reason.

By repeating positive phrases is really a way to break habits or change something you never like. As an illustration someone who wishes to be confident may inform your subconscious mind how beautiful you might be, or that everybody wants to be just like you. This is the most positive strategy to change the way we think.

Used consistently and repeatedly, affirmations really do work to improve the messages your subconscious mind integrates. By communicating directly along with your subconscious mind, you tell it different things and slowly after some time, it believes it. And ultimately, obviously, this different belief also allows you to behave differently.

Going further with this thought is usually to realize that you'll be able to change anything about yourself. Whatever you want to improve about yourself, will happen, and only 'you' helps it be reality. And this we call mindpower.

Visualize what you want to see happen. In what you see to formulate mindpower is when you can close the eye area and think about what you want to happen. Your subconscious frame of mind will react powerfully to individuals pictures. If you find yourself getting good results, and think about everything you ever wanted for yourself.

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 12:00 PM PDT

Article by Pushpitha Wijesinghe

Summary - Festivals in Bangkok are evenly spread out through the year and are backed by a nationally important symbolic occurrence. What makes Bangkok festivals more worthy of watching is their ability to intertwine cultural opulence into any type of ceremony. They make wonderful spectacles which give visitors a chance to soak up some local culture.

Bangkok is a destination that brings to life colourful, culturally rich and varied festivals. With over two millennia of history under its belt, Bangkok is never at a loss for culturally, religiously and historically important events to commemorate. Even a furtive glance at the capital city of Thailand would reveal that there is plenty more than shopping malls, bazaars and road congestion.

Being a predominantly Buddhist nation there are several 'pujas' or offerings made to the Buddhist temple, Lord Buddha and the Buddhist priests. 'Asalha Puja' is held in commemoration of the first sermon made by Buddha, while 'Vassa' symbolizes the beginning of the Buddhist lent period.

Among the most uncommon ceremonies is the 'Vegetarian Festival'. In line with the first of the five precepts stipulated in Buddhist books, the community engages in a binge of consuming vegetarian food. This is usually during the month of October and streets are lined with delicious vegan and vegetarian goodies that can be enjoyed by all.

The movie buffs will find that July is the best time to visit as the Bangkok Film Festival is held during this month. The spotlight is on the movies released in South East Asia, but the award winning creations from other parts of the world are also showcased here. Unique ceremonies of tribute are held in the backwaters and lakes of Bangkok as well. The Barges Ceremony brings to the fore some of the most splendid boats, which are a manifestation of the handicraft talents of the locals.

The heirs of the throne are given recognition by celebrating the birthdays of the King and Queen in truly regal style. At present the da! ys fall in August and December making them majestic months for celebrating for the locals.

It is quite likely that you will find yourself in Bangkok during one of these many festivities. Those heading to the city can look for Bangkok serviced accommodation which offers a homely alternative to staying at a hotel. Citadines Sukhumvit 16 Bangkok is one such option that provides a centrally located Bangkok apartment hotel in the capital that is ideal for both business and leisure travellers.

The enchanting mysteries of Munneswaram Temple

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 11:00 AM PDT

Article by Pushpitha Wijesinghe

The sacred Munneswaram Temple is principal among the Hindu temple complexes of Sri Lanka. The temple housing four Hindu temples and one Buddhist temple is revered by the Tamils, Sinhalese and even the Muslims of the Island.

Located 80 kilometres north of Colombo in the district of Puttalam, the Munneswaram Temple is a leading religious site among the Hindu temple complexes of Sri Lanka. It is said to have been in existence since the 1000 CE and is one of the five ancient temples or Ishwarams of the region dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Shiva. The massive religious complex comprises of five Hindu temples and one Buddhist shrine.

The central and the chief temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and is considered the primary attraction of the site. The opulent structure is also the largest of the six temples. There are two other important temples dedicated to god Ganesh and goddess Kali. The temple of Kali Mani is popular among the Buddhist as well as the Roman Catholics of the region. The temple revered by the Sinhalese is dedicated to Ayyanayake Deviyo, a powerful Buddhist deity.

The ancient legends involving the temple complex create a sense of mystery and enchantment making the grounds seems all the more secular. The Tamil legends talk of the epic battle between King Rama, the hero of the Ramayana and Rawana, the demon king of Lanka. It is said that the Munneswaram Temple was built on the exact place where King Rama prayed to Lord Shiva after his victory over the demon king. The Sinhalese believe that Munneswaram is where Kali Mani landed from India. The tale continues to state that another Sinhalese goddess prevented Kali Mani from devouring the people and made her settle in Munneswaram. The temple of Kali is thus associated with vengeance and sorcery.

The temple that flourished under the time of the Kotte Kingdom was destroyed by the Portuguese during its colonization of Ceylon. Although the Jesuits built a chapel over the temple foundation, the devout locals reconstructed th! e temple both times. The temple celebrates many festivals including the Navarathri festival and the Sivarathri festival. While the nine-day long Navarathri is held in reverence of Kali Mani, the Sivarathri is an overnight celebration held in honor of Lord Shiva. The grandest event on the temple's calendar is the Munneswaram festival, a four-week long celebration honored by the Hindus, Buddhists, Catholics and even the Muslims of the country.

The best time to visit the region is during the annual Munneswaram festival, held in the months of August and September, over the period of 28 days. As Munneswaram is a village accommodation is scarce. But superior lodging could be found at any hotel in Negombo, further south, closer to Colombo. Club Hotel Dolphin is a superior and recognized Negombo hotel that will provide a convenient stay during your visit to the sacred Munneswaram Temple.

A Short History Of Buddhism

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 08:00 AM PDT

Article by Owen Jones

Buddhism was started by the followers of Siddhartha Gautama (circa 563-483 BC). He was born into a Hindu family of the kshatriya caste in what is now called Nepal. At the age of 29, he abandonned his wife and infant son and went in search of enlightenment.

He attained enlightenment some time later whilst sitting under a bodhi tree near Patna. After 49 days of rapture and resisting temptations (Mara), He, now called Buddha, formed a group of monks and went fore to preach the word. After 45 years of preaching their philosophy of enlightenment Buddha died and reached Nirvana, the state in which 'ideas and consciousness cease to exist'.

One of the most central concepts to Buddhists is the Tipitaka (the 'Three Baskets'), which is a record of the Buddha's doctrines as set down by His early followers after his death. The texts in these 'three baskets' tell the story of Buddha's life (Buddha); record his laws (Dharma); and his guidelines for setting up and running a monastic order (Sangha).

Buddhists believe in reincarnation and the wheel of life in a similar way to Hindus. They also believe that this cycle of life, death and rebirth may be stopped by achieving enlightenment. Enlightenment can be attained by devotion to the Four Noble Truths.

Life is impermanent despite the cycle of life, death and rebirth and can only produce suffering (dukka) because of the pursuit of earthly desires. Suffering and desire can only be conquered by achieving Nirvana, which can be achieved by following the Eightfold Way, otherwise known as the 'Middle Way'.

The Middle Way consists of: correct belief, thought, speech, action, livelihood, work, mindfulness and concentration. These form the core of Buddhist ethics.

A hallmark of Buddhism is the monastic order. Men can become monks for a couple of years or for life. There is also a female monastic order. In some sects, boys enter a monastery for a period of between a few weeks and a few months as part of their passage into adulthood. Boys in! Thailan d are expected to be monks for a number of weeks before they eventually be married.

Monks live an austere life in monasteries or temples. Each village has a temple in much the same way as western villages have a church, but each temple tries to uphold a population of at least nine monks, which is considered the ideal number for some of their duties like blessing a house or performing a wedding ceremony.

Buddhist monks live on charity donated by the local villagers. In Thailand the young monks walk the streets in the early morning collecting donations of food, which has to be eaten before midday, after which they may not eat.

Monks are not allowed any contact with women at all. They may not even sit next to them on a bus or hand the fare to a female bus conductress.

Buddhist temples are primarily for individual contemplation and meditation. They are open to anyone twenty-four hours a day and people use them to gain respite from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

Group prayer meetings are far less common a feature of Buddhism than they are in Judaism, Christianity, Islam or even Hinduism.

Article by Rockeysheen01

For the last few days, you are not having a good night's sleep! Sleep is very much essential for our body since it make us to start life afresh. But, when we fail to make sure of it, then we try to follow some alternative. This makes us to sit up and take notice about ourselves. The only option is to go for some type of sleep therapy techniques. It will help you to focus almost 100% of your attention in that area, this practice comes with a myriad of health benefits, like increased concentration, decreased anxiety and a general feeling of happiness.

A large number of people meditate at some point of time in their lives but you could find very few persons stick to it for the longer term. It is unfortunate that many beginners do not start with a fixed mindset, which will make the practice sustainable. Since maintaining it is really tough and most beginners do not start with a fixed mindset of sustaining it. You can come across various recommendations in the pages of the internet and choose one, which will be most suitable to you, by customizing it to a great extent.

You can follow some simple recommendations to make it a practice, like

Make it a formal practice - You could go to the next level by setting aside some specific time frame. It can be about two times a day.Start with the breath - If you breathe a little slowly, it will slow down the heart rate to a considerable extent. It will also relax the muscles and will also focus your mind to make it up for practice.Stretch - Stretching will loosen your muscles and allows you to sit or lie more comfortably.

Your aim should be to meditate for a purpose and this is most probably applicable for meditation for beginners, since it is an attractive process.

At the start of the very meditation process, you will find that frustration is creeping you on but try to be vigilant. Confine your frustration and you will be able to focus on your breath and make a new beginning for meditation for beginners. You can sit even cross legged under ! a tree a nd beginners should be a little experimental. There are different types of techniques of meditation and you should start practicing it one by one. Do meditation, which can be felt by the body parts.

Why Krishna Consciousness Is Joyfully Performed

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 06:00 AM PDT

Article by Victor Epand

Last night we had a interesting discussion about austerities. My understanding is that Krishna consciousness is meant to be "joyfully performed." In other words, whatever austerities that we may execute should be done joyfully or happily. For many this appears to be a tall order. There are different motivations that people have for performing austerities. Here are some of them that I can think of: Guilt, Fear (of getting smashed for not doing it), material goals (Hiranyakasipu type, desire to be respected, etc.), spiritual goals (liberation, spiritual advancement, desire to become detatched, etc.), ritualistically or because of habit-not thinking of the goal or reason for them., and Love (desire to please someone). Of these different types I have chosen 6 as I find it the most joyful. In fact when austerities are executed in this way, they are no longer austerities in the sense that they are no longer austere. They are life giving.

Sometimes devotees look at my simple diet and comment that it is too austere, but I do not find it austere at all. I had the realization that my body belongs to Krishna. It does not belong to me for my enjoyment. So as an offering of love for Krishna I would do what was necessary to keep it running nicely as long as possible to maximize my service. I don't think of my diet in a negative way. If I did, it would make me miserable. Rather I think of it in a positive joyful way. Then it becomes super enjoyable, more than all the glubjamons, halavah, pizza, etc that I have imbibed throughout the years. Also the austerities should be performed and guided with intelligence.

For example two days ago it was Lord Nrsimha's appearance, and I fasted the whole day up to dusk. I had no problem doing this. But, after the mid day I found that I unable to focus my mind or eyes well (because of the fasting), so I was not able to perform much service. As the day wore on I physically became weaker and weaker and finally when it was time for the evening service, I could barely s! tand to perform my part of the abhiseka, and after I was finished I had to sit down feeling exhausted being unable to continue or participate in the aroti ceremony.

So I decided that from now on, if necessary I would take fruit during the day during these long fasts, so that I could serve Srila Prabhupada effectively. Of course some may criticize me for this. The tendency to feel guilty about this may also be there. Or the tendency to be scared (maybe Lord Nrsimha will rip me to shreds for this). But, I understand that Krishna is a person, and He knows my intention and my heart. Therefore there is no guilt or fear. We really need to understand what motivates us, and how other people are attempting to motivate us. Sometimes people attempt to motivate us by guilt, fear, shame, denigration. If succumb to this, we will be miserable.

For example 2 days ago I received a letter from a Godbrother who was attempting to motivate me to do what he wanted. He replied to my statements in such a way as to appeal to guilt, using negative psychology. His method of attempting to motivate me was ineffective and manipulative (especially in regard to my rebellious self!). It would have been more productive had he tried to understand me first and had he explained why he was thinking the way he was.

In an institution sometimes we are stirred into actions simply by unthinking obedience to an authority. Prabhupada did not want us to be blind followers, but wanted independently thoughtful people who consciously chose to do things to serve Krishna. These are the sorts of people who can become leaders. Prabhupada wanted leaders.

Decalcify Your Pineal Gland! A guided meditation to unblock your Ajna Chakra, Third Eye

A lot of you have been asking whether or not it's possible to reverse the damage caused by fluoride calcification. The answer is YES! You can decalcify the pineal gland, and restart your natural production house of seratonin, melatonin, and DMT. Simple steps to decalcify: 1. Stop consuming fluoride in all it's forms. (Reverse osmosis water filtration, fluoride free toothpaste, mouthwash and gum.) 2. Eat a healthy, vegetarian diet, consisting mainly of fresh, organic, non GMO fruits and vegetables! (This step was left out of the video- but very important! The bodies ability to heal and reverse the damage of fluoride poisoning is greatly accelerated when we consume foods that cleanse, rather than foods that build up.) 3. Meet your daily requirements of essential fatty acids through raw foods! (Coconut, avocado, sesame seeds, nuts, superfoods like acai and goji berries, etc.) 4. MEDITATE! The guided meditation shared here is ideal for the decalcification process, as it focuses on third eye awareness, and the reversal of verbalized thought process. The third truth: the cessation of suffering is attainable

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 06:00 AM PDT

Whoa!

Really? There's an end to suffering? An end to our pain? Our inner conflicts? Yes there is.

Sadly some people don't make it. Some people do not realize there is an end to suffering, and choose to shorten their life, rather than bear the load they have been struggling with on and off for years. They believe letting go of their life will be the end of their suffering. And who am I to say this is not true? What I do believe is it can't be the answer to inner peace.

By the time I was 12 I had tried to take my own life, and again at 18. I didn't know any better. I didn't know there was a way out of my misery. I thought I couldn't cope. I knew it was an option as I had known friends in my life who had facilitated their own exit out of life. Fortunately my sincere attempts failed. My stomach pumped, laying alone in a hospital bed, I glimpsed that there had to be another way. I found it through traveling, getting away from my life, and I have to admit my time traveling with my best friend aged 19 was one of the happiest times I had in my teenage years. I was happy every day for eight months. Every other traveler I met was happy and if we weren't we just moved on to the next place. But I had to come home and face my true inner self.

Traveling opened me up to the rest of the world. I witnessed suffering everywhere I went. I was touched by a Palestinian who told me his story, and in the middle of it he knelt down to pray. He asked me to tell his story. Perhaps it's why I became a journalist, telling many people's stories. As a journalist I realized I was not alone in my suffering, but still I could not see an end to it.

Simple life experiences continue to teach me to accept the fact that the cessation of suffering is attainable. A few years ago I experienced excruciating tooth pain for a week. I had become tight around my pain. I panicked, went into horrified anxiety, and began swallowing painkillers like candies. During that time, a new root canal was put in, an old root canal was dug out, and an abscess flared. My face was swollen, and it hurt even to talk. I wanted to get rid of the pain and I wanted to control it, but when I came to my third day on painkillers, I realized they were doing nothing to curb my pain. I threw out the drugs and observed my pain. Sometimes it was intense, and sometimes it was calm, but what I have to admit is that the pain became more intense when I resisted it. I was creating mental suffering.

The cessation of the mental suffering was most definitely attainable. But what about the physical suffering? I have to admit I still suffered with pain, but the pain did not stay the same throughout the week when I relaxed into it without panic or fear.

I had to surrender to the pain, and when I realized that, the physical pain became manageable. I lived with the same amount of pain, but without pain killers, and I witnessed how my pain changed. How at times it throbbed, at times it just ached, and at other times it thumped throughout my jaw, my gums and my head. My life became bigger again, for it was not just focused on my tooth pain; there was a lot more going on in my physical body and my life. My fear and panic narrowed my life. All I could think of was my tooth pain, and nothing else.

My tooth made me realize that my mental pain was causing my suffering. My physical pain was just sensation that was always changing, arising and ceasing. My mind created a suffering that made my pain feel torturous. I realized that mental suffering can cease.

In my youth I had created mental suffering that lingered for years. I had sentenced myself with self hatred, and had also sentenced my biological mother and all my other abusers with hatred. This inevitably caused me great suffering. I hated my biological mother and abusers with a vengeance for all the things they had done to me. I hated myself, and I began rejecting myself through an eating disorder. I had created my suffering that lasted many years. I had become a victim of my own mind. I used to be proud of being a survivor of physical and sexual abuse. But I soon realized as a survivor I was only surviving through the skin of my teeth. I was lucky not to have been dead, from the extreme anorexia and bulimia I had imposed on myself. I knew I had to start living. The third truth taught me that if I was to accept there is an end to suffering, I had to be compassionate towards myself. Self compassion allowed me to begin letting go of my self imposed mental suffering.

I realized through letting go of the suffering, that there was a clear distinction between physical and mental pain. It had all seemed the same. I learned that I could experience physical sensation without the self imposed mental suffering. But once I had created mental suffering, there was always going to be some kind of physical sensation. I have learned that I cannot be free of physical sensation, from the minute to the extreme, but I can be free of the mental suffering that adds to the pain.

It is not the physical pain that makes us angry. We make the physical pain angry. Our mental conditioning punishes us and makes life a trial rather than a journey of equanimity. If we can let go of our fears, we can cultivate faith. There is hope, and there is an end to suffering! If we let go of mental suffering we will begin to experience the beauty of inner peace.
When a negative mental state arises, that puts us down, criticizes us, judges us, or undermines us, just breathe and say: 'Let it go, let it go".
Or when any of the above arises, we could pause and say: 'This is a moment of suffering. Suffering is part of life. This is a moment to be kind to myself. May I give myself the compassion I need?'

When you are feeling calm take some time in your day to reflect on impermanence. Impermanence is all around us if we open our eyes to it. If we are deeply honest with ourselves we will accept everything changes and that includes our mental suffering. We will see that it is possible to detach from the past, and let go of grasping for the future. Being in the present moment will bring about an end of suffering.

If all else fails – get down on your knees and pray. Call out to whatever your God of understanding is and ask for help. In these moments true insight can arise.

Krishna's Body is Spiritual and No Loss of Diminution

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 04:00 AM PDT

Article by Victor Epand

Krishna's Body is Spiritual. Krishna is non-different from His body. His body is eternal, full of bliss, and knowledge. He never changes His body, but in His selfsame body appears in different ways, according to His desires, in His various incarnations. This is the same as a dramatic artist who can expertly assume different roles according to the scripts which he is called upon to perform. It is stated in the Vedic literatures, that when we see God in His original manifestation, He is known as Krishna--the all attractive Personality of Godhead.

In His various manifestations in this world, Krishna establishes religious principles; annihilates miscreants, and helps His devotees. At the same time, He exhibits these activities to attract people who have no information about God other than their faulty speculation or the speculations of others such as theologians. When people see or hear about Krishna's wonderful activities, they become attracted to Him, and become interested in spiritual life.

Krishna also enjoys acting in many different ways. God is not impersonal. He has desires like ourselves, but His desires are not fraught with the impurities that contaminate ours. He enjoys dancing, playing, singing, fighting, and all the activities that we can imagine.

In the spiritual world these activities are constantly going on. This is the destination of the pure devotees of the Lord: to interact with the Lord in His eternal pastimes.

1. Brahma-samhita 5.12. Bhagavad-gita 4.6

No Loss of Diminution. All material accomplishments are finished at the time of death. "You can't take it with you." The pharaohs in Egypt were buried with their worldly belongings (including their wives and servants); yet thousands of years later their bodies were dug up and all the worldly belongings were still there (unless grave robbers had taken them). We come into this world naked and leave in the same way, regardless of what we have acquired in this lifetime: prestige, money, family, education, etc.!

D evotional service performed in this lifetime is never lost. If one becomes 1 percent Krishna conscious in this lifetime, he will take up devotional service from this point in the next. Krishna informs us that in Krishna consciousness there is no loss or diminution, and that a little Krishna consciousness will protect one from the most dangerous situation--losing the facility of having a human body in the next life.

A devotee who leaves his body after a little devotional service goes to the heavenly planets, and thereafter takes birth in a well-to-do family. During this birth he gets further opportunities to progress in devotional service.

A devotee who leaves his body after a great deal of devotional service takes birth in a family of transcendentalists where he is immediately engaged in devotional service and is able to perfect his Krishna consciousness.

Of course, a devotee who leaves this world after perfecting his devotional service, never comes back to this world again, but attains Krishna's eternal abode, Goloka Vrindavana.

Meet Your Goals In Weight Reduction Now!

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 03:00 AM PDT

Article by Harry88

Many people out there are trying to stick to a diet to no avail. Try as they might, they just do not have the will power to go through the motions of changing their lifestyle. Some of this is because they may be a little too set in their ways, but a lot of it has to do with the fact that they're not experiencing results.

When you are trying to lose weight you should always have some sugarless gum available. Chewing gum suppresses the appetite. It gives your mouth something to do and the flavor can distract you from cravings. Mint gums also make your mouth feel clean. Most people do not want to eat when their mouth feels clean.

Any genuine effective weight loss plan will stress the point of losing weight slowly rather than quickly. The physical reason for this is that it can be dangerous to your health to lose weight too quickly. From a mental perspective, you will feel that you have accomplished your goal and go back to your habits which will result in regaining that weight just as quickly. A real weight loss plan involves a lifestyle change which not only lowers your weight but keeps it low. The change happens slowly.

Start your day off right with a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Oatmeal is packed with the good stuff that aids your weight loss. In addition, the whole grains and nutrients pack a filling punch, keeping you with a full feeling for longer. This means you're more likely to avoid those diet-breaking afternoon snacks.

Seeing a therapist is a great idea for people that are trying to lose weight. This is good because seeing someone can help you get to the root of why you overeat to begin with. If they can help you get to the core of the problem then it should help you lose weight much easier.

Weight loss should come at about the rate of 1 to 2 pounds per week or 1 kilo per week. If you are very obese you may be able to lose up to double this at the beginning, but in general you don't want to have an excessive rate of fat loss.

Some restaurants make it e! asy to d etermine which choices will be smartest for those on a diet. Others, not so much. If the menu doesn't make it clear, ask your server to indicate the healthiest choices available on the menu. If nothing looks appropriate, and that does happen, ask your server if they can make you up a fresh fruit plate or whether they have any vegetarian options. Restaurant cooks appreciate the chance to cook something off-menu, and you'll get a healthier meal.

Write down what you eat, keeping a food journal helps you pin point your eating pattern and will enable you to easily modify it. You will also be able to keep track of your calorie count. If possible, have your Registered Dietitian or doctor to review your journal to help you come up with a more healthy diet plan.

When you are trying to lose weight, indulge on snacks that contain healthy fats such as olives, fish and nuts. These foods, most of which are also high in protein, help keep hunger at bay and satisfy cravings. Not only that, but the good fats contained in these foods provide a number of health benefits including reducing your risk of heart disease and helping to lower cholesterol.

A great way to lose weight is to make sure you get at least eight hours of sleep every day. Your body releases hormones as you sleep, and if you cut your sleep short, you aren't getting the full benefit the a full night's rest provides. Getting enough sleep is very important.

For a tasty meal that can help with weight loss, try replacing beef with mushrooms. Mushrooms can satisfy your hunger just as well as beef. Since mushrooms are much lower in calories than beef, you can use less beef and more mushrooms in an entree to make a low-calorie meal without sacrificing the quality of the entree.

Avoid diets. To be successful and healthy for the long run you can't just sporadically crash diet. It is actually unhealthy for your weight to fluctuate up and down. Instead, you should look at being healthy as a lifestyle change. Focus on eating nutritious food! s as a w ay to fuel your body and keep you energized and healthy for the long haul, not as a quick-fix stint of depravation to lose weight.

To help speed up your weight loss, try to be as active as possible. This doesn't just include regular exercise. Insert motion into your daily activities, such as using the stairs instead of the elevator or parking your car further from the store. Walk around while you answer phone calls .

If you are one of those unlucky people, who tend to gain weight easily, you should stay away from buffets. All you can eat places urge you to eat as much as you can to get all the your money worth of food. This is not just making you sick, but in the long run it makes you gain weight and may cause you heart problems.

As you can see, the steps to achieve your weight loss goals are simple, effective, and very easy to implement. No matter what your daily schedule or lifestyle, you will be able to find a weight loss strategy that is right for you and your life. So what are you waiting for?

4 Important Rituals You’ll See as You Travel Burma

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 02:00 AM PDT

Article by Jude Limburn Turner

Something that becomes almost immediately apparent to all who travel Burma is the importance of ritual in everyday life. Understanding the significance behind these practices can help the traveller to appreciate the spiritual life of the country they are visiting, so here are some of the rituals you are likely to encounter.

Adorning With Gold Leaf

Applying gold leaf to part of a temple or to a Buddha image is an act of devotion and a way of making merit in much of Southeast Asia. This isn't just because gold is valuable, but because one of the lakshanas or divine attributes of the Buddha is that he had golden skin. At Shwedagon Pagoda in Rangoon, you may see Buddhist pilgrims pressing small squares of gold leaf onto the already-dazzling stupa, which contains sacred relics of the Buddha. This was first started by a 15th century queen, Shin Saw Bu, who had the stupa gilded with her own weight in gold; other rulers continued the tradition, and what started as a show of wealth and a way for the elite to gain merit is now something that any worshipper can play their own small part in. It is unknown how much gold now covers the stupa, but estimates put it at around 60 tonnes.

Lighting Candles

If you plan to travel Burma in the autumn, look out for candle-lighting ceremonies at temples. While the lighting of candles can be performed by a Theravada Buddhist devotee at any time of year, the act is especially widespread - and impressive - at the Festival of Light. This is celebrated on the full moon of the twelfth lunar month to mark the end of Buddhist lent. Lanterns, candles, and strings of electric lights will all be in evidence, as well as lively festivities and acts of merit-making.

Pouring Water on Buddha Images

When you travel Burma, at some point you will probably see a person pouring water onto a statue. Water is attributed with sacred properties in many Southeast Asian cultures for its purity and life-giving qualities. Thus to wash or pour water onto a Buddha st! atue is to show devotion and respect. Once water has touched an image of the Buddha, it is considered holy, and some ceremonies involve monks lightly splashing that water back onto the worshippers as a blessing.

Offerings to Nats

Alongside Buddhist ceremonies, you will undoubtedly see evidence of Nat worship as you travel Burma. The Nats are important beings with roots in pre-Buddhist Burmese animism, and include both spirits of the land and the Great Nats - spirits of humans who died untimely deaths and ascended to deity status. Every settlement has a guardian Nat, and you will see people paying respects to shrines dedicated to them, especially in villages; Nats can help or harm a person, and making offerings appeases them. At Mount Popa, home of the Great Nats, specific offerings are made to suit the characters particular Nats - such as Ko Gyi Kyaw, patron Nat of alcoholics, whose statue is adorned with whiskey bottles.

Pineal Gland Activator : OPEN YOUR THIRD EYE ! Relax Meditation Music 11.11.11

The Pineal Gland is the seat of Christ Consciousness. It is the site of your Third Eye which is located between your two physical eyes. The metaphysical qualities or attributes of the Seventh Chakra include link with the Higher Self, ability to access the Akashic Records (Book of Life), and spirituality. When you physically die (transcend the flesh-body), your soul exits the body via the Seventh Chakra. The soul also leaves during astral projection and dream state via the Seventh Chakra. The Seventh Chakra deciphers and decodes the mysteries of life. It links us with the Universe. This chakra is very important and many of the spellbinding writings of the brilliant SunofTruth (and my own) bear witness to the importance of this chakra (energy center, vortex) and physical gland which is why it is important for you to know how to tap into it, to stimulate it for your spiritual growth and development. If you want to meet with God face to face like Jacob did in Genesis 32:30 of the Bible, you have to tap into the Pineal Gland. The isle of pe-ni-el of Genesis 32 is a corruption of ?Äúpi-ne-al.?Äù The isle of pe-ni-el in Genesis 32 is the Pineal Gland which is a pea-sized gland that has shrunken in the average human being due to degeneration. The best tools for Pineal stimulation and activation are crystals. The following crystals or stones placed over the Third Eye (6th charka, which also corresponds to the Pineal Gland). These stones include: Amethyst, Charoite, Dumitorite ...

The Power Of Our Subconscious Mind

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 12:00 AM PDT

Article by Richard Kimball

Have you ever fully appreciated that marvelous tool for success that each and every one of us has at our command? It is our mind.

Theodore Roosevelt

"All the resources we need are in the mind."

In the novel "Terminal Man" by Michael Crichton, it mentions that at that time (1972) the largest and most expensive computer had the same number of circuits as the brain of an ant. To make a computer with the capacity of the human brain would require the size of a huge skyscraper. Its energy demand would be the equivalent of a city of a half a million.

I know computers have come a long way since 1972 but it shows the tremendous capacity of the human mind.

Did you know our conscious mind is only one-sixth of our brain's thinking and power? Our subconscious mind represents five-sixths of our thinking and power.

The whole mind, conscious and subconscious, possesses the power to solve any problem that may come up, or provide the necessary ways and means through which we can achieve our ends.

The conscious mind holds only about 7 pieces of information in short-term memory. Your sub-conscious mind, however, stores all the knowledge you have ever acquired. Everything you have ever read, heard, thought or imagined is held within its immense memory.

Brain researchers estimate that your unconscious mind outweighs the conscious on a scale of ten million to one. This is the source of your hidden, natural genius. In other words, this part of you is much smarter than you think you are. This is where the great artists, writers, and poets to get their inspiration.

Albert Einstein

"The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will, and the solution comes to you, and you don't know how or why."

"I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."

The subconscious min! d is use ful in two ways. The first way involves receiving information, solving problems, and receiving inspiration.

The second way deals with programming your mind to supercharge your confidence, your self-image, and your desired beliefs. This can take a little time at first but like many things gets easier with practice.

Programming your subconscious works best through visualization. Pictures and symbols are by far the most effective way of impressing your subconscious. Speaking of symbols and pictures, this is why dreams are largely symbolic in nature. While you sleep your mind processes information and presents it back in the form of symbolic pictures.

What's great about your subconscious mind is that it never rests. Whatever goal or problem you give your subconscious, it will work on continually, day or night.

Whatever you think and ponder about deeply with strong emotion makes a strong impression on your subconscious. This is why you also need to be careful. Excessive worrying and negative self-talk can also make strong impressions.

You want your subconscious mind to be a goal achieving, success mechanism, not a failure mechanism.

Suddenly it all made sense

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 12:00 AM PDT

In 1965, when I first began to study Buddhism I read several important books on Zen and Buddhism in general.  I even tried to read D.T. Suzuki's translation of the Lankavatara Sutra.  Reflecting back on this time in my life it was all like listening to a song a hundred times over the radio but somehow the meaning of it eluded me.

I have met Mindfulnesss who claim to have read John Blofeld's translation of Huang-po's sermons published as The Zen Teaching of Huang Po.  To be frank, these people don't get the meaning of One Mind.  And I have to admit, neither did I when I first read Huang Po.  Yes, it was exactly like listening to a song a hundred times or more being clueless as to what the artist was driving at.

Nothing I read during that period of my life was sinking in.  No matter how profound the work, it just wasn't getting through to me.  By going through a tremendous spiritual crisis then, as a result, having a glimpse of pure Mind for the first time, I was able to begin to see what Buddhism was really all about.  You could say, suddenly the lyrics of the song made sense!  I came to realize there wasn't anything hidden about Buddhism or Zen.  However, if a person doesn't catch a glimpse of pure Mind, which could take a spiritual crisis to do so, they will never understand where Zen is really coming from.

Meditation Guide - How To Prepare For Meditation

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 09:00 PM PDT

Article by Nil Jonee

Meditation may appear very simple to some one who is yet to begin with the art but, can be quite challenging when attempted for real. The peace and serenity that we usually see surrounding someone who is in the process of deep meditation, does not come in a day's time. It takes years and years of dedication and practice to reach a certain level wherefrom the real benefits of meditation or, dhyan can be experienced. Meditation for beginners particularly, can be very difficult. Sitting down quietly is an otherwise difficult task, and this is precisely what meditation requires as its very first requisite.

A number of external factors ensure how effective the practice of meditation and its effects will be in the coming days for a learner. While it is true that meditation has got to do everything with the 'inside' of a human being, the external factors should not be neglected as it matters to every bit, as far as meditation for beginners is concerned. We may have come across numerous examples of Yogis who could continue with meditation irrespective of weather conditions (heat, cold, thunderstorms snow etc), but, all this could have been possible hundreds of years ago when people used to actually dedicate themselves to the art and reach levels of expertise that people of the present times can only dream of. Therefore, it is only for the benefit of the present day beginners to ensure the prerequisites before attempting practice of meditation of any sort.

Area Of Practice:

Meditation should be practiced in an area that is quiet and has a sense of tranquility surrounding it. Whether you have chosen yoga for meditation, or, any other form, the area of practice can have a massive effect on how you develop in the art. Cleanliness of the area of practice is a must and should not be compromised with. you can never accomplish true meditation if you have been practicing in a dirty, odorous, pest ridden, clammy, noisy and overall, polluted surrounding. Avoiding severe weather conditions like rain! , excess ive heat, chill, storms etc is wise. You may be able to sit quietly tolerating these extremes, but 'meditation' per se, will not happen. Whether indoors or, outdoors, ascertaining that the area for practice is right for meditation will go a long way into getting you the true benefit of the practice.

Cessation Of Thoughts:

This is easier said than done. Thoughts are the intangible phenomena that keeps occurring within the human mind voluntarily and involuntarily. Thoughts of either of the sort must be ignored while meditating. Conscious or, constructive thinking should be consciously avoided. On the other hand, the involuntary or, unconscious thinking (that are thoughts that just keep floating into the mind without any conscious effort from the person) should be overlooked. Dwelling on thoughts while sitting in meditative posture is as good as not meditating at all. True meditation happens when all conscious and unconscious thoughts depart from a human mind. One must allow that to happen. This may take years to master, but with proper practice, it is sure to happen at least to a certain extent.

Created As the successor to the Hyper Dimensional Being series. From Peoples comments and experiences I knew that I have created some of the most powerful theta inducing sound journeys ever but I also understood that the EXPERIMENTAL sound design was a mixed bag with some people claiming that the series was created to sound dark and stimulated feelings of fear within some listeners. However other people found these sound journeys to be the best they ever heard and enjoyed deep theta states and stimulating sound experience like no other. Even with the positive and negative feedback Hyper Dimensional Being is still the best selling theta realms collection. And with this in mind I set out to create the successor to this series by trying to create an equally powerful theta inducing experience without the negative feedback from the previous series. Cataracts In Dogs: Surgical Removal Vs. Naturopathic Reduction

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 06:00 PM PDT

Article by Art Jones

Cataracts are a very common ailment in dogs. There are two primary causes: old age and diabetes. Old age conditions tend to be slower to develop, but are less frequently operable because of the stress the operation places on the dog. Diabetic onset, on the other hand, can happen literally overnight. The dog goes almost instantly from healthy to in danger of imminent blindness. Whatever the cause of the illness, the treatment is largely the same: either perform surgery, or look at natural remedies for dogs. How do you know which one is right for your pet? Consider the pros and cons of each.

Surgical Removal Of Cataracts In Dogs

Cataract removal is one of the most delicate surgeries that can be performed in a human or in a dog. The surgery involves complex manipulation of fragile tissues in the eye, and even a small mistake can lead to permanent blindness. The surgery involves the removal of the lens and thus the cataract itself. In order for this to be accomplished, the sac surrounding and holding the lens must be delicately severed, and a replacement lens installed in place of the one that was removed.

This kind of surgery can only be performed by a canine optical specialist, and requires highly specialized equipment (including a surgical microscope). Because of the complexity and stressful nature of the surgery, it is often not recommended for older canines or for those faced with other health challenges. In contrast, surgical prognosis for canines who are suffering as a result of diabetes is much better. This is because diabetic dogs are otherwise healthy, and are thus able to recover more effectively whereas an older dog may not have the strength of a younger one.

Natural Remedies For Dogs

Natural remedies for dogs began to become popular when an increasing number of old dogs couldn't handle the stress of the surgery. In addition, a lot of people felt that the surgery was simply too invasive and too stressful for all canines, especially if there were natural optio! ns avail able. Veterinarians soon discovered that a host of natural vitamins and minerals could play a big role in keeping this eye condition from ever developing, and might be able to reverse it even after it had already developed.

Recent studies have further confirmed the role of antioxidants such as Lysine and vitamins A, B, C, and E in helping to reduce the likelihood of cataracts in dogs developing and to break them apart if they do develop. Ultimately, there is no one magic formula which is widely available to reduce the eye disease. Look for a company that has a high success rate and a money back guarantee; their results are likely to be the best.

Using Both

If you know your canine is at risk for developing the eye illness, then your best course of action is to attack the disease with everything you've got. Get prepared for surgery if you can and you need to, but start natural remedies for dogs immediately as well. With luck you'll be able to use the less invasive natural method and completely avoid any kind of need for surgical intervention.

Methods of Obtaining Knowledge and The Spiritual Master

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 05:00 PM PDT

Article by Victor Epand

There are three basic methods of obtaining knowledge, two of which are faulty, and one which is faultless when properly applied. The two faulty methods are: 1. Direct perception, and 2. Induction (making general conclusions from limited experience). The faultless method is the descending process by which one hears from the proper authority who is faultless (Krishna or His pure devotees).

The two faulty methods are known as the "ascending process." "Ascending" means to go up. So one who follows these processes is trying to understand God or Truth with his limited faulty faculties. We see the adherents of these methods changing their theories constantly. They are not sure of anything.

In Krishna consciousness we hear Krishna's opinion which is perfect, because He is omniscient; that is, there is nothing unknown to Him. His words are always perfect and true. There is no need of a new opinion every 5 minutes. Krishna's devotees who are in the disciplic succession simply repeat His words and therefore what they speak is also perfect.

Srila Prabhupada gave the example of a small boy who asks his father what is the name of the object into which his father is speaking. His father replies, "microphone." The boy repeats. Even though the boy may not have complete understanding, because he is repeating what is true, his words are true.

Revelation, not speculation, is the only way one can understand God. Krishna wants us to know Him, so He reveals Himself through the scriptures and His pure devotees.

The Vedas tell us that if one wants to make advancement in spiritual life it is imperative to accept a spiritual master.' In any discipline we need a teacher. Book learning is not sufficient. For example, a surgeon must study under an expert experienced surgeon. He cannot confine his learning to books. One who does not accept a bonafide. Spiritual master as his guide is sure to be bewildered in his attempts at self-realization.

One must be extremely careful in choosing a spi! ritual m aster, as there are many pretenders who simply wish to cheat innocent persons. There are standards mentioned in the Vedic literature that one should use when picking one's eternal guide: 1. The spiritual master must come in an unbroken chain of disciplic succession from God Himself, 2. The spiritual master must be a perfect disciple of his spiritual master; a first class servant rendering humble service, 3. The spiritual master must be fixed in the regulative principles and practices of Krishna consciousness, never falling down, 4. The spiritual master must haveheard nicely from his spiritual master so that he is simply repeating in his own words the teachings given to him.

The spiritual master teaches by example as well as precept. By observing his behavior, the prospective disciple can verify that the spiritual master is not deviating from the teachings that he received from his own spiritual master and is, in turn, passing along to his disciples. In this way,the disciple can understand how to apply the teachings to his own life.

Alan Watts - How We Define Ourselves

"Out Of Your Mind" Lecture on "The Nature of Consciousness" At a time when the West was just starting to take notice of Eastern spiritual thought, Alan Watts was in the vanguard. A former Anglican priest who dove into an intense study of Buddhism, he explained mystical ideas in terms that an English or American ear could understand. And he combined a profound scholarly knowledge of both traditions with an irreverent sense of humor that was more than just leavening—it was an essential piece of his world view. To take an example that comes from the very beginning of the Out of Your Mind collection, Watts discusses the two Western views of the cosmos. In the "ceramic myth," the universe is created by God as a potter creates the bowl. As created beings, we are fragile and infinitely dependent on our creator. By contrast, the "fully automatic myth" views the universe as a clockwork machine, running by its own laws independently toward the inevitable conclusion. Both, Watts insists, are myths: meant to serve a certain purpose, and reflective of the people who created them. He proposes an alternative, the "dramatic myth," in which we are all players acting on the illusory stage of life, making up the rules as we go. You see how many levels this operates on? On the one hand, we can say that the "ceramic" myth represents the traditional Judeo-Christian world view, and the "fully automatic" myth represents the scientific materialism that has displaced it among Western intellectuals ...
