Before looking at tinnitus natural remedies, it is important for you to rule out any conditions or illnesses that may be causing the ringing in one or both of your ears. tinnitus can be caused by low or high blood pressure, allergies, tumors, diabetes, thyroid, a head or neck injury, and some drugs. If you've been to your doctor and none of these conditions exist, then you are among the twelve million people who have this condition. You might even be one of the one million people whose daily life activities are disrupted by tinnitus.

Some people with this condition do not experience it on a continuous basis. The problem may start and stop for no apparent reason. Sometimes the ringing will occur in one ear and sometimes in both ears. You may hear a hiss, clocking, whining hum, roar, or squeal. Among the results of a continuous ringing is disruption of sleep, lack of focus, and sometimes problems with hearing.

The biggest trigger of this condition is stress. Studies have shown that a possible cause of tinnitus is brain activity. When a person is under stress, the brain activity is triggered. When looking for ways to reduce or eliminate the condition, you will want to identify the triggers.

Environmental and stress triggers can be dealt with by taking some easy steps. Exercising daily will reduce the condition. By taking a thirty minute walk each day you can increase your circulation and blood flow. This will help to keep your body and muscles healthy and toned. It will also reduce the condition when you are increasing your cardio on a daily basis.

When a person does not get enough sleep they can be tired and stress is triggered more easily. Getting enough rest will help to reduce tinnitus and also help in increasing the immune system. Stress can be reduced by learning some relaxation and breathing exercises. By eliminating these two triggers, you will feel healthier and less stressed during your day.

Sudden stops, jerking your head, and loud noises can be serious trigge! rs for this condition. Avoiding areas where there is loud or constant noise will be a big help in reducing the condition. Slowing your stops and head movements will also stop the motions that trigger tinnitus.

There are many elements in the diet that affect this condition. Changing to a healthier diet will help you in many ways in addition to reducing tinnitus. By reducing the salt from your diet, eating healthier foods, and reducing the stimulants that you eat or drink such as coffee, tea, etc., you will be able to take control of your health and your condition.

There are many vitamins, herbs, and homeopathic remedies that are provided to reduce or eliminate tinnitus. Some of these herbs, such as Gingko, may take up to two months to become effective. Others offer a quicker result when they are used regularly.

The techniques and methods for tinnitus natural remedies include some very basic changes in lifestyle and diet. They also include the addition on supplements, vitamins, herbs, and homeopathic remedies. When you begin looking for a way to stop your ears from ringing, you may need to experiment with different combinations of treatment to find the right remedy for you.

Meditate for Beginners - Turn Off Your Mental Radio

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 12:00 PM PDT

Article by Mark Sandy

The desire to meditate for beginners has a truly evil enemy called mind chatter. Think of it like your own mental radio.

Yes. It's really terrible!

You sit on your favorite meditation place and begin to meditate. All motivated. And after entering a bit into meditation, your mind drifts off, and you start to reflect about why your boss was so annoying yesterday regarding that e-mail you sent to that client. That gets you to a different thought, and at that point your mind has wandered off for good. Suddenly you're not meditating anymore. You're just thinking. Or worse, worrying.

What's happening is that you are attacked by your own thoughts.

Once you realize this, you pull yourself back to meditation. You diligently focus on your breath, as you should do when meditating. But then, after a bit of time, it gets boring and your mind drifts again. You don't even know what happened, and you suddenly start to think about that cheese that's missing from the fridge that your wife asked you about, and that you really need to go out and buy.

That's how your mind works. You get this constant background chatter that never stops. This is when most people give up with meditation. Since they don't know how to turn their chatter off.

But fear not! The presence of mind chatter is the true measure of how much you actually need meditation! That chatter is what drives you crazy every day. It's your mind, speeding too fast, and not giving you a break. Your mind chatter is the reason why you really want to practice meditation as a start.

So, what should you do when you get attacked by thoughts and have your mind filled with chatter?

First thing, relax. Hope is not lost. You just want to wait there and relax. If a thought gets at you, don't worry. Let it run by. Let it go wild with your mind. Let it have fun with your mind as much as it wants. Then at some point that thought will be done. It will begin to lose its energy, and it will finally fade off.

That is the most! important moment! When a thought fades off, you have a chance to discover true meditation. Mind you, there's going to be another incoming thought queued up and ready to enter your head. You are going another incoming thought right away. Thoughts come in trains.

But there's going to be a space between them.

Be on the look for that silence! Look for that space between thoughts. And you'll find the precious clue that will show you the portal to discovering what meditation really is. That wonderful feeling of depth. Of being in contact with yourself, which is so exciting and beautiful.

Once you start to do this constantly, the space between your thoughts will increasingly become wider and wider. You'll finally reach a point where you are in control, and you'll know what to look for in meditation: that silence, that stillness. That's what meditation is all about.

The chatter is your enemy. And it's funny how the best way to fight it is just by ignoring it. If you ignore your mind chatter, it will lose its energy. And il will end up leaving you alone.

This is true not only during meditation, but also in everyday life. If you defeat your mental radio, you'll end up being stronger, and more self-confident, as you won't be slave of your mind chatter anymore.

Once you conquer victory on mind chatter you'll start to wonder how you could live before without going mad. How fast your mind went. How fast you ran. How fast you multitasked. That's the true measure of how fast you stress yourself every day.

This is the true meaning of meditation. To realize that the mind shouldn't run that fast. That it really needs to slow down and to focus just on one thing at a time.

Seek out the good news

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 12:00 PM PDT

"Tell the truth." It's the foundation of science, ethics, and relationships.

But we have a brain that evolved to tell lies to help us survive. As I've written before, over several hundred million years our ancestors:

  • Had to avoid two kinds of mistakes: thinking there's a tiger in the bushes but actually all is well, and thinking all is well but actually there is a tiger about to pounce. The cost of the first mistake is needless worry while the cost of the second one is no more gene copies. Mother Nature designed us to make the first mistake a thousand times to avoid making the second mistake even once.
  • Had to get "carrots" and avoid "sticks." If you don't get a carrot today you'll have another chance tomorrow, but if you don't avoid that stick you'll die and get no carrots forever. Consequently, negative experiences are fast-tracked into memory – "once burned, twice shy" – while most positive experiences slip through the brain like water through a sieve; in effect, the brain is like Velcro for negative experiences but Teflon for positive ones.

As a result, we routinely overestimate threats while underestimating opportunities and resources. Yes, many people have an "optimism bias" in what they say – but in their actions, they work harder to avoid pain than to get pleasure, they remember failures and rejections more than successes and kindness from others, they need at least a 5:1 ratio of positive to negative interactions for a healthy relationship, and they muzzle themselves and play smaller in life to avoid a list of dreaded experiences.

It's as if we live in a subtle nightmare in which the shadows and threats are exaggerated while our allies and inner resources seem distant and ineffectual. We think the dream is real so there's no point in trying to wake up from it. Our beliefs in the dream trap us like the bars of an invisible cage.

The root cause of suffering and harm is ignorance, illusion, not seeing things as they actually are. But when we wake up and see the facts and live in the light, we feel so much freer, at ease, unthreatened, confident, overflowing, loved, and loving.

Remember some time in your past when you realized that things were not as bad as you thought, or that others were more caring, or that you were more capable. How did it feel in this instance to wake up from your own bad dream?

For instance, I recognized in my twenties that while growing up I'd been a nerd, not a wimp – a relief! Other examples from people I know: A woman realized she could be strong and people would still like her. People in recovery learn they can have a great time without being buzzed. Kids come to see that there's no bogeyman in the closet. A girl gradually understands that she can let in her dad's love even though he's annoying. Another young woman lets it sink in that plenty of guys like her even though some are clustered around a "hot" classmate. A man in his 50′s realizes that no one cares whether he loses some hair. A woman finds out she can turn her art program into a publishable book.

Yes, sometimes when we wake up it's to bad news: perhaps there's a ceiling in your career, or you've been too cranky with your kids, or a partner is just not trustworthy in an important way. Living in the truth means seeing both good and bad clearly.

But because of the brain's evolved negativity bias, most of the time when we wake up, it's to truly good news.

How?

The good news that there's no tiger – or that you can deal with it just fine
Consider your fears. Especially the everyday ones, such as: if I say how I really feel, people won't like it; if I don't lose these ten pounds, no guy worth having will want me; if I ask for a raise I'll get criticized; if I start a little business, it will flop; if I take on some school loans it will be hard to pay them back.

How many are really true? What are the odds of them happening? If they indeed happened, how bad would it really be? And if the unlikely event did happen and if it felt really bad, how would you cope?

How does any anxiety in your temperament bias you to feel more threatened, more uneasy, more cautious than you reasonably need to be?

Think about the many things that protect and support you, from locks to laws, friends to credit cards. Think about the inner strengths you've used for tough times in the past, that you could draw upon to deal with challenges today.

The good news that you are full of good qualities, and that the world is full of opportunities you could likely fulfill with reasonable effort
Consider other abilities you have, like smarts, grit, talents, determination, integrity, passion, patience, sincerity, goodheartedness . . . to name a few.

What have you always wanted to do – but told yourself is out of reach?

Ask yourself what would happen if you invested just 20 minutes a day in meditation, or in exercise, or in supportive conversation with a friend or partner – or what would happen if you invested just an hour a day in all three.

What would happen if you spent half an hour a day or even a couple hours on some project, such as writing a book, laying the groundwork for changing careers, building a boat, learning a musical instrument, or making art – and could these hours add up over a single year?

The good news that you are liked, loved, and valued
Consider some of the many ways you have been seen, included, appreciated, liked, and loved. Think about the people who have seen the real you – and still cared about you. Can you see some of the many qualities you have that another person would recognize, respect, value, be drawn to, like to have on his or her team, be interested in, feel warmly toward, even cherish?

Consider the relationships you could readily have, the friends you could make, the love you could find if you drew on your courage to extend yourself, open up, stand up for what you need, and ask for what you want.

How about seeing the good in yourself, your own compassion, kindness, decency, good intentions, integrity, and loving heart.

If you trusted in the good news of your own goodness, how far and wide would you play in this life?

The History of Meditation

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 10:00 AM PDT

Article by Ronaldo The Teacher

This epic of meditation is filled shroud controversy, as there is no proof on when meditation entirely began. It is speculated that meditation began at the conception of fire, when humans would yawn and see about into the flames. However, known is no written doing of this whereas the case, or any celebrated structure on how these attainable meditations were done.

It is believed that the matchless written note, again hence the beginning of the history of meditation, began over five thousand senescence ago in India. No unrivaled is perfectly certain which religious close with began these meditations, as the evidence is the like of tantras that were noted owing to being performed. Whether or not known were tantras performed prior to five thousand oldness ago is uncertain, being these tantras may trust been verbally passed reclusive through the generations.

The modern history of meditation began direction 500 B.C., when the Buddha began establishing his forms of meditations to the world. irrefutable was during Buddha's point that meditation began to developing from India into divergent Asian countries. Eventually, these teachings would be passed to faultless of the countries of the world, making existent unequaled of the intensely widespread religions to date.

The teachings of the Buddha, birthed as Siddhartha Gautama, were faithfully transcribed by the monks who followed him shortly ensuing his death sequentially prestige 480 to 470 B.C. Many of the innate teachings of the Buddha were passed down orally until his death, where they were scribed pastime a neatness of transcripts still used to guide Buddhists to this very day. Included fix these writings is information on the lifestyles of ancient India, through well as the philosophies that are the foundation of the beliefs of second Buddhists.

From the teachings of the Buddha, seeing positively as from incomparable sources in India, the chronicle of meditation evolved relevance influential more than sole or two religions practi! cing the art. Now, know onions are hundreds of forms of meditation, both inside further outside the teachings of the Buddha, that allow people of unreduced religions to enjoy meditation. Even Christianity has borrowed some of the aspects of the Asian meditations, notably through the blessing of prayer beads and holy mantras used during worship.

There is some speculation that some forms of meditation existed within the early biblical days, for some of the behaviors described in the terminated Testament of the bible are very corresponding to some of the meditations competent by Asian religions. It is shadowy if expert was any influences shared between Christianity also Asian religions, or if what was practiced force the Bible was truly forms of meditation.

The 11th Element of Mediation - Dyhana Meditation Benefits!

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 09:00 AM PDT

Article by Doug Remington

Most people do eventually get some meditation benefits from Western taught meditation. A little peace and serenity if nothing more, this is most of the great benefit for us. But this is like eating the peel of a banana and throwing the delicious inside, the banana itself, away! We take a little peace and serenity and then throw away the real meditation benefits.

This is because the great meditation benefits lie embedded in the most important aspect of medication -- Dyhana.

What is Dyhana?Dyhana is a simple Sanskrit word for which there is no English equivalent. It means something like insight, focus, concentration, attention, and many more. But in order to understand the word Dyhana, it• s necessary to experience the actual meaning.

Only by actually experiencing the meaning of this word, Dyhana, is it possibly understood. Otherwise no one can understand it. And since we naturally look only for dictionary meaning, most people will never understand it. The following few poems metaphorically point to a personal experience of this word.

By concentrating on the following poems -- gently but steadily -- a deeper meaning will emerge. Actually experiencing the deeper meaning is Dyhana. When the reader is suddenly and abruptly presented with the experience of deeper meaning, this is the meaning of the word, Dyhana. Then and only then is the word, Dyhana, understood!

And until then, the real reason for meditation is obscured.

Zen Poem:Our body is the bodhi teeAnd our mind a mirror bright,Carefully we wipe them hour by hour,And let no dust alight. (Shen-hsiu)Zen Poem:There is no bodhi tree,No stand or a mirror bright,Since all is without intrinsic reality,Where can any dust alight? (Hui-neng)

By a psychic and mystical writer:Loneliness is something, We must all undergo, Until the soul is so complete,It• s just something we outgrow. (Gladys Jones)

By a Poet:The word falls like rain on a sturdy mindSlowly cleaned like a dusty streetSuch is the way of God! The poppies are blissfulBut doubt is notI come out to darknessThe lamp illumesMy Beautiful Love is on the other lineThe truth hurtsBut like rain on a dusty streetA lie must erodeTruth prevailsSuch is the way of God (Posted October 21st, 2010 by kevinruhland08)

The subtle exercise might be to spend at least 5 minutes each day gently concentrating on each poem. Dyhana takes time. The patience of Jobe is required. Why do so many people expend this kind of effort? Well, some do and some don• t. Obviously, the one• s who do, have an understanding of Dyhana and want to continue experiencing deeper and deeper insights into reality.

Once Dyhana is understood, the person seeks formal and traditional methods which were established long ago. These are tried and proven methods that bring insight each day: that is ever new, ever encouraging and uplifting insight arises daily. And each new discovery banishes the daily dull-drums and emotional pain that accomplishes every day life.

Continuing with meditation is like continuing with jogging. Only a few will ever do it regularly. This is because some days for the beginning jogger, and some days for the begging meditator, are a trudge up the murky road of happy destiny. It• s no fun at all. The cost for meditation and the cost for jogging are the same. Very little if any financial cost is required.

The cost involves those murky days of trudging. And believe me, this is a very high price. But the trudge of becoming a self-made millionaire, a jogger, or a meditator is well worth it. Ask any if the cost was too high. None of them will tell you, • The cost wasn• t worth it.•

Happiness comes at a very high price. No one gets there without paying the price. The meditator finally reaches a stage of permanent, and infallible peace -- experiencing deep insight into the nature of Ultimate Truth, which brings a peace surpassing all understanding.

Therefore a short explanation should be added to most dictionary definition of Dyhana ! is: that! s it• s also a personal accomplishment of focusing the mind with gentle effort until it focuses normally, naturally and spontaneously into the object of meditation -- steadily -- like a steady stream of oil poured from one body of oil into another. The ancient Hindu scriptures define Dyhana this way.

The Tibetans describe Dyhana also as a blending of the mind into it• s object, like water poured into water. Only when I achieved some success with Dyhana, did I reap the benefits of meditation. Until Dyhana happened, I was just playing around. The subject of Dyhana is also quite extensively described in most, mystical, classical books on ancient, Raja (Royal) Yoga.

The single thing that aids the experience of Dyhana is the practice of virtue. This also dissolves most emotional pain into the middle path known as Sattva in Sanskrit, which is a humility like state of mind that is void of all emotional pain.

Once all emotional pain is out of the way, the meditator is able to follow the instructions of the classical meditations. He or she is not continually wasting their time in meditation just to end emotional pain. Consequently a direct experience of God is more easily accomplished.

Doug Spent Years in Therapy

This was a good experience for him but very expensive. Eventually he found something else. And the best part is, it's far more effective at ending emotional pain. It• s what he calls a change-of-thinking sedative. It relieves emotional pain quickly, effectively, and it• s just as fast acting as a drink, psychiatric medications, or drugs. The effect is almost immediate! No need to spend years and years in therapy. He became an expert by killing his own emotional pain. You can become an expert too.

It• s so simple a six (6) year-old child can easily learn it. It• s not new and he certainly didn• t invent anything. For at lease the past five thousand years of recorded history, this scientific method of dealing with all emotional pain has existed. And although presently there• s no school of professional therapy that teach this system exclusively, it agrees with all the early schools, including Freud, Young, and Adler.

It also agrees with all the modern schools of cognitive therapy, including Beck, and Seligman. Cognitive therapy is the only thing most insurance companies will pay for.

He has shared this method with friends and relatives. He even spent one semester in Graduate school. For years people have told him to write a book and put it all down. He did write a book. But he shares most of this information free on his web site.

Breast Reduction: Let Your Doctor Know That You Are A Good Candidate

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 08:00 AM PDT

Article by Abigail Aaronson

Wanting a breast reduction is not surprising if your chest is uncomfortably large for you. You may experience both physical and mental anguish from the issue. However, most doctors still want to make sure that patients are going into this surgery for the right reasons. Therefore, you will need to ensure that you are a good candidate before you embark on this pathway.

Many women experience physical pain due to their chest. In many cases, bras are so stretched to the limit that the straps dig into the shoulders, leaving indentations that stick around for quite a while. Running or performing any strenuous activities can hurt enough to discourage physical exercise. Even just getting through the day with overly large breasts can be painful, as most women complain of their backs hurting constantly.

Aside from physical pain, a lot of women dislike the unwanted attention that a large chest often brings. It may even turn from attention to harassment, which can put added stress on the victim's life. If this is the case for you, your solution to the issue might be to cover up your chest as much as possible. You should not have to live this way, so be sure and let your doctor know that this is going on. You will likely be granted a breast reduction, especially if you also feel physical pain.

Some of the disadvantages of having large breasts are not even considered by those who do not have the issue, but are still bothersome. For example, finding an attractive bra in your size could be difficult. Searching across the city for a few that you like can be a big waste of time that those with smaller breasts do not have to deal with. Additionally, working out likely often hurts, which means that you might not be able to achieve the body shape you want. Having breast reduction could change that, enabling you to get into the best shape possible and easily find appealing bras at any store.

Clearly, a breast reduction can eliminate most, if not all, of these complaints. If you feel any of this t! ype of p ain, let your selected surgeon know. In many cases, your surgery will even be paid for by insurance because it is medically necessary if you feel pain. If you feel any of these issues, let a doctor know that you are the right candidate by telling him or her about them, and get started on the process of reducing your breast size.

10 Audio Books to Improve your Mind

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 07:00 AM PDT

Article by Lily S.

It's indeed incredible that not many people pay a great deal of attention to what gets into their minds. You see, the mind is the single most important factor in determining who you are and what you do as an individual. If your mind is positive and creative, you can become all you ever dream of becoming. Most of the highly successful people you see in the news today took a great deal of time to work on improving their minds. On the other hand, if your mind is negative and inactive, it's very likely you won't amount to anything in life. Analyzing the lives of some of the most notorious people in the world would reveal that they always fed their minds with negative thoughts.

The question that obviously comes to play here is - are we born with positive or negative minds? I will quickly and firmly say NO to both!

Wedevelop our minds by what we put into it. If we are continually putting negative information into our minds, this results to negative thoughts and ultimately negative actions.

So, if you want the opposite creative thoughts, it is pertinent to always get the right kind of information into your mind.

The most common way to do this is by reading the right kinds of books. Sadly, because of the great demand on our time, only few people still read lots of books, especially after college. We mostly only have time to read the newspapers and magazines. And guess what? Most newspapers only end up giving us bad news that further increase our negative state of mind. If you want to really get positive and helpful information, you need to read books that contain such information. Thankfully with the advent and popularity of audio books, anyone can get the right information into his or her mind without having to "read". You can enjoy the benefits of audio books while exercising, commuting to and from your work, etc.

For those who don't know exactly the audio books to go for, below are some of the 10 best audio books to improve your mind.

What dependent origination is really about

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 06:00 AM PDT

Dependent origination or pratîtya-samutpâda is by modern Buddhists sometimes confused with mutual dependence or interdependence which is more like the Vedanta term, parasparapeksa.  This notion has no real connection with dependent origination.

The notion of dependent origination or the same, origination by dependence (on something else) is meant to inform us that the phenomenal reality we take for granted is fundamentally nothing it itself because it is a construction based on absolute Mind (we will get to this part later in this blog).  The key Sanskrit term for coming to this idea is pratîtya.  According to Edgerton's Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit Dictionary, pratîtya means dependent on, based on.  One interesting example he gives is: "on the basis of muñja or valvaja (grass), a rope is produced."  This further suggests that the phenomenal reality we inhabit is nothing in itself (lacks an intrinsic nature or svabhâva) because it is based on a necessary antecedent without which the phenomenon (or phenomena) would not arise or be produced.

The ultimate basis of all phenomenal existence is the One Mind.  This is what the Avatamsaka Sutra essentially says in this passage: "The twelve links of conditioned origination are all dependent on the One Mind."  Failure to realize or awaken to this Mind is ignorance or avidya.  This sets the wheel of samsara rolling along, so to speak, by which we become bound up with a fictional world that we believe is other than fictional.  Nevertheless, this is not true reality according to the Buddhas.  It is a deception and by it we are being deceived which causes us to undergo endless rebirths into countless forms of being.

Dependent origination really stands for non-ultimate existence, namely, origination and disappearance whereas, in sharp contrast, nirvana stands for non-origination and non-disappearance, that is, ultimate existence by which we see that things really don't exist (apart from the One Mind).  According to the Lotus Sutra phenomena "have the nature of illusion and dreams ... they are pithless as the stem of the plantain, and similar to an echo."

When we fully awaken to the One Mind we will enter a new world in which phenomena are like waves on an ocean of bliss (sukha).  Huge waves, nor a waveless ocean will diminish the bliss.  But until we fully awaken we shall remain sleepers living in a dream world of suffering: a world dependently originated and nothing in itself.

Meditative Binaural Beats - Discover This Powerful Tool for Quickly Achieving Meditative Relaxation

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 02:00 AM PDT

Article by Asa Stevenson

In this article, I am going to introduce you to meditative binaural beats, a powerful tool for quickly achieving deep states of mediative relaxation. I will also show you where you can find sample beats so that you can try them out for yourself. Meditative binaural tones are a profoundly effective means of reducing anxiety and stress in a short period of time, even if you have no prior experience with meditation. And if you are an experienced meditator, they can also take your meditational experiences to the next level.

Meditative binaural tones have actually been around for over a hundred years, and their therapeutic effects on the body have been well researched and documented in a number of university studies.

Researchers have shown that binaural tones are "auditory brain stem responses which originate in each hemisphere of the brain." They result from the interaction of two different sound impulses experienced in opposite ears and differing in frequency.

Meditative beats are delivered by listening to a simple audio track (usually of gentle, relaxing music) that has the two sounds that trigger the beats layered into the music. All you need to do to enjoy their beneficial effects is to sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes and listen to the pleasant audio track through headphones. It is not uncommon for even beginning users to experience a deep sense of relaxation after only five or ten minutes of listening to a track.

So what results can meditative binaural beats provide? Among the many common effects of listening to binaural beat meditation tracks are:1. Improvement in length and quality of sleep2. Lucid dreaming3. A surge in creativity4. A heightened sense of awareness5. Boosts of energy6. Heightened meditational experiences8. Astral projection or out-of-body experiences

Meditative binaural beats are an extremely effective way to reduce the stress and pressures of modern daily life. Because they require only a CD or MP3 player and a set of headphones, bina! ural beats can be listened to just about anywhere. And you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you will begin enjoying the positive effects of binaural beats, without having to spend years mastering traditional methods of meditation.

In short, meditational beats offer a powerful alternative to traditional meditation as a way to quickly achieve relaxation and a sense of inner well-being. The best way to learn about the power of meditative binaural beats is to simply experience them for yourself and discover their many benefits. Follow this link to my favorite source where you can obtain sample binaural beats and give it them a try! Visit http://www.binauralstimulation.info

Mind-Body Connection and Cancer: What Does It Mean?

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 01:00 AM PDT

Article by From the office of Dr. Laurence Magne, author of Cancer Free For Life

The concept of the Mind-Body Connection is very simple: the things that go through our minds have a profound effect on our body. It almost defies intelligence that this connection is denied by anyone, but it is. Of course, the main reason for denying its existence is that it's very hard to make a profit off of it. This, sadly, is one of the main reasons that you haven't heard more about the Mind-Body Connection and cancer.

In a very simplistic example, let's examine an extremely common example of the Mind-Body Connection in everyday life. Most people have had the experience of calling in sick from work, when they aren't really sick. Many people need to give a reason for calling in sick, so they say they are sick to their stomach or have a headache. A good number of these people then end up sick to their stomach or developing a headache.

As we think, so we become. This happens even when we don't mean to become what we're thinking about. This happens especially when we're only thinking about it to avoid becoming it.

Pay attention to how frequently we are bombarded by images and fear about cancer. It's hard to open a newspaper or watch the news without seeing something related to cancer. It's terminal, untreatable, and can strike anyone down at any time. Or so we are taught to believe. This is an example of the way the Mind-Body Connection and cancer work together in a negative way.

If you've been diagnosed with cancer, you owe it to yourself and your loved ones to explore the Mind-Body Connection. Doing so requires that you take control of your thoughts. Many people erringly believe that they are in control of their thoughts, when they have actually, unintentionally, turned a lot of their thinking over to the media.

The first step is to eradicate fear and worry, both of which have been shown to have an incredibly toxic effect on the immune system. These two thinking traits actually have almost no positive effects over time. Fear is a positive trait when the house is on ! fire, as it motivates us to get out and save the lives of ourselves and loved ones. Taken into consideration over time, however, chronic fear lowers our ability to combat disease and effectively deal with life. Sadly, both of these traits can easily increase after being diagnosed with cancer.

To begin utilizing the positive relationship between the Mind-Body Connection and cancer, work on eliminating fear and worry from your life. Acknowledge the fact that your mind exerts more control over your body than your doctor does. Practice healthy and positive meditation and visualization to begin leading your body back to its natural state: health.

There are a limited number of things in life that we actually have control over. The attempt to exert control over those things that are actually beyond our control leads to fear and worry. This is another example of the way that we have been conditioned to letting the Mind-Body Connection have a negative impact on us: we're too frequently told that we don't have control over our own health. We've turned that over to the doctors and the medical industry, because they are better equipped to keep us healthy.

This is simply untrue. Accepting that you have control and that nature has supplied you with all of the tools necessary to be healthy is empowering and begins to automatically increase health.

The relationship between the Mind-Body Connection and cancer can be truly miraculous. Our body is capable of destroyed cancer and does so regularly. It is only when our body fails to destroy cancer that we become aware of its existence. It is only because we've lost touch with the power of our Mind-Body Connection that this ever happens in the first place. By restoring that power, we can easily relegate cancer to the list of conditions that was once a problem for humanity, but no longer is.

Heal Your Brain Using Mindful Meditation

Posted: 20 Aug 2012 12:00 AM PDT

Article by Michael Locklear

Mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy has been shown to reduce anxiety in a broad range of clinical populations, as reported by the University of Ottawa. Meditation reduces stress and enhances forgiveness, according to a study published by the Journal of American College Health. Meditators have a greater ability to moderate the intensity of their emotional arousal during stressful situations, say the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

Studies from Yale and Washington University have shown that mindful meditation increases your brain's levels of GABA, DHEA, melatonin, serotonin, HGH, and endorphins. Meditation effectively combats the effects of depression by reducing your levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

Because meditation increases these beneficial brain chemicals, it is a simple way to combat the effects of depression. It reduces stress, relieves depression and anxiety, and lowers your blood pressure, according to research published by the National Institute of Mental Health.

GABA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid)

GABA is an important neurotransmitter found in the central nervous system. It inhibits the production of stress-producing hormones, such as cortisol.

Insufficient amounts of GABA in the body are linked to tension, anxiety, insomnia, and epilepsy. GABA supplements help to correct mood disorders.

Sufficient levels of the neurotransmitter are essential for proper brain function. In a Yale study, scientists found that people suffering from panic disorders or addictions have considerably lower amounts of GABA.

Studies show that people who meditate or use binaural entrainment on a daily basis have significantly increased levels of GABA. Researchers at the University of California hypothesize that meditation produces its anxiety-reducing effects by promoting GABA action in specific areas of the brain, via a mechanism similar to the effects of synthetic anti-anxiety and tranquilizing agents.

DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone)

D! HEA is a hormone found in the adrenal gland. Research suggests that DHEA can have a number of health benefits, including:

alleviating depressionregulating sleepreducing stressimproving memoryincreasing sex driveimproving overall psychological healthDHEA deficiency has been linked to obesity and chronic fatigue, as well as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Meditation has been shown to dramatically increase levels of DHEA in the body. According to a study published in Biological Psychiatry, patients who were given DHEA experienced significant improvement in their depression, as well as improved memory performance.

Melatonin

Melatonin is an essential hormone produced by the pineal gland located in the brain. Levels of melatonin in the blood rise at night, allowing for restful sleep. It is also a very powerful antioxidant. Studies at the Washington School of Medicine have discovered that there is a significant link between low melatonin levels and weight gain, especially around the stomach area.

Low melatonin levels severely inhibit your ability to get adequate sleep. Lack of sleep increases the production of hormones such as leptin and cortisol. Too much of these hormones cause you to gain weight, in addition to making it difficult to lose weight.

Practitioners of mindful meditation have been found to have considerably above-average levels of melatonin, according to a study published in Biological Psychiatry.

Serotonin

Serotonin deficiency can lead to a variety of physical and psychological issues, such as:

obesitydepressionmood disordersinsomnianarcolepsysleep apneamigraine headachespremenstrual syndromefibromyalgiaSerotonin is a vital neurotransmitter which is needed for proper function of the brain. Serotonin elevates mood and increases energy.

Many medications for mood disorders work by boosting serotonin levels. People who meditate have significantly increased levels of serotonin in their body.

! Endorphin! s

Endorphins are neurotransmitters created in the body to internally alleviate pain. Endorphins are responsible for increased pleasure and an overall sense of well-being. They also lower blood pressure and are believed to fight cancer.

People who consistently practice mindful meditation have been found to have considerably higher levels of endorphins. Aside from meditation, exercise boosts endorphin levels as well, causing the pleasurable feeling you get after exercise.

Human Growth Hormone (HGH)

HGH supplements are becoming increasingly popular, though the risks of taking HGH in supplement form are widely debated. HGH is responsible for facilitating growth during childhood, and it sustains your body's organs and tissues throughout your life.

As we get older, our ability to produce HGH gradually diminishes. This in turn causes increased body fat, decreased motivation, decreased muscle mass and general body weakness. Research shows that meditation can cause increased HGH levels.

Cortisol

Cortisol is a stress hormone produced by the kidneys. Overproduction of cortisol can accelerate the aging process, and over a long period of time has been linked to these ailments:

increased abdominal fatchronic stresshigh blood sugarweakened brain functiondecrease in muscle massdecreased bone densityelevated blood pressuresuppressed thyroid functionheart attackstrokeincrease of bad cholesteroldecrease of good cholesterolMindful meditation has been proven to decrease cortisol levels in your body. A study published in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences in 2004 found that older women who regularly practice meditation may have a reduced cortisol response to stress, and that the longer the women have been practicing, the less likely they are to react to stress with high levels of blood cortisol. In another study conducted at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, 52 males experienced reduced cortisol levels as well as quicker reflexes after practicing ! Buddhist ! meditation. Are You Ready To Implement A Natural Cholesterol Reduction Plan

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 11:00 PM PDT

Article by R.D. Hawkins

By now most of us have heard about the risks of high cholesterol such as heart attack, atherosclerosis, and stroke. We may even suspect some lifestyle changes need to be adopted but have yet to commit to a natural cholesterol reduction plan to improve our cholesterol numbers. We always seem to put it off until tomorrow in hopes that the condition will improve on its own but it keeps getting worse until finally our doctor has given you an ultimatum to either take action and aggressively implement a natural cholesterol reduction plan on your own or he will be compelled to prescribe one of 4 or 5 drugs designed to bring down LDL (bad cholesterol levels).

This stern warning has led you to finally make a change. I know what you are going through and it took me years to finally implement a healthier lifestyle. By no means does this mean giving up everything you love, it simply means using a certain amount of self discipline, especially in certain problem areas. Let's look a a few ways to make your new found commitment to natural cholesterol reduction a reality.

*Food preparation: For me one of the most helpful areas in natural cholesterol reduction was in the area of food preparation. I simply had to change the way my foods were prepared and one day a friend suggested one of those lean mean grilling machines. At first it seemed like a joke but he reiterated how it had helped him lower his cholesterol some 75 points. The design basically causes much of the dangerous saturated fat to be drained off, thus making many foods such as ground meat or turkey much more heart healthy. Another good tip is to use olive oil or a soft spread containing cholesterol busting stanols or sterols as a substitute for butter when spicing up those sweat potatoes and vegetables.

*Inactivity is your enemy: It is not unusual for a person to sit behind a desk or computer screen virtually all day, with the only exercise you get being trips to the break room or driving to a business lunch. What you have here is dan! gerous c abal of stress and inactivity. Research tells us that by setting aside only 30 minutes a day for moderate exercise we can raise our good cholesterol (HDL) while lowering our bad cholesterol (LDL). Staying active is especially important for those with high triglyceride and/or low HDL levels and those who are overweight with a waist measurement of 39 inches or more.

In summary, changes in food preparation and exercise are two very important tools in natural cholesterol reduction. Others would include consuming two 4 ounce servings of baked fish per week, reducing saturated fat intake to under 10 percent, and if you feel your natural cholesterol reduction plan needs a boost adding a safe and effective cholesterol reduction supplement.

Living with Tourette's syndrome, OCD, anxiety and depression and naturally reducing them

www.robkellermd.com This is my first video about my life and things I've dealt with for years since I was a child. I am sorry it is so long though. I have tourette's syndrome accompanied by OCD and anxiety. I completely turned my life around with a few natural lifestyle changes and one supplement that I will endorse for the rest of my life called "Dr. Keller's original glutathione formula" Boosting glutathione is KEY to any neurological disorder and plays a VERY important role in maintaining a healthy life free of oxidative stress. To order a month supply and try it out, please use this link. www.robkellermd.com If for any reason, you feel it didn't do anything or you just aren't happy with it, you can send back the empty bottle for a full refund. It's that simple and there's really no risk involved. The only thing you might lose is your depression and anxiety and a huge reduction in OCD or tic symptoms. Let me know if you have ANY questions about anything I discussed in this video. Again the link is www.robkellermd.com

How Meditation Can Lead You to Spiritual Enlightenment

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 09:00 PM PDT

Article by Kip Mazuy

Have you ever found yourself struggling in meditation? You sit to meditate expecting bliss or enlightenment but instead all you really experience is frustration?

That's because the very attempt to get something out of meditation, blocks you from actually meditating.

Meditation is a bit like gardening. You plant some carrot seeds and then every day you water it, you pull the weeds, you nourish the carrot plant in every way you can.You don't expect a carrot instantly. But out of love for gardening you do the work without expecting anything in return.

And then one day to your surprise, there is the carrot, beautiful, orange and delicious.Same with meditation. If you commit yourself to meditation without expecting anything in return; If you give yourself to this moment out of the love of giving.Because some days meditation will be challenging. Some days meditation will be blissful and some days meditation will be a challenging surrender to the intensity that is here. But simply by meditating and by nourishing your awareness in every way you can,one day, without even focusing on it, you could be reading a book or walking in the woods and suddenly there is an opening. Suddenly, bliss is radiating freely from your heart.Enlightenment will happen without you thinking about it. Without you do anything on your part.It arises on its own, at its own time, yet it arises also because you planted the seed and helped it grow.

And the best way to help your meditation grow into enlightenment is by sitting in the presence of an enlightened teacher, one who has mastered high states of meditation. Such a teacher naturally radiates a bliss(known as shaktipat) that can be felt by others. And so simply by sitting with them, you easily enter deep states of meditation.

But you can experience this same bliss by listening to a very unique Enlightenment CD.

6 Effective Tips to Deal with Leadership Stress

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 08:00 PM PDT

Article by John Hersey

True leaders know how powerful a certain level of stress can be to keep you focused, to make you competitive, and to encourage action. Anytime you have to give a big presentation or talk to an important client, if you are not at least a little nervous, you won't give it your best.

Nevertheless, stress can also be lethal, especially in today's vile economic reality, where every professional is menaced by endless hours, layoffs, and anxiety about what may come next.

The best and most experienced leaders acknowledge that dealing with leadership stress has to do with 6 essential factors, and these are the way out, now more than ever:

1.Keeping perspectiveIt is crucial to acknowledge that no matter how bad the circumstances, or how big your challenge is, there are others in a worse situation who are probably dealing with it much better than you are.

Thousands of managers have to talk to their staff about costs reductions, possible dismissals, and new ways to make profit; it is a stressful speech, and many need to calm down afterwards, at least James Mitchum had to.

James is an executive director at a major communications' firm, and after delivering the dreaded speech he decided to go out for lunch at a nearby restaurant to unwind. While he was there, he noticed the cashier was on a wheelchair, and he also saw a blind customer trying to order a meal. Immediately he realized his problem would disappear, theirs wouldn't. Nevertheless, they looked happy, optimistic, and energized. Basically, their attitude was far more inspiring and helpful than his at that moment and he was grateful for the lesson.

2. Staying fitExercise is crucial for a leader's success. Several studies have proven that leaders who exercise are more effective and deal much better with stress.

Exercise helps keep emotions under control, and it relaxes and energizes you. We know it is not easy to fit an exercise schedule when you are a busy executive, however, you must find the way. Everyone aroun! d you an d you yourself will be thankful.

3.Opening upStress manifests when you hold on to too much inside, and leaders often feel they have to manage certain things by themselves… Don't! Open up, it will make you appear vulnerable in a good way and authentic, and that's what draws people to a leader.

Releasing the load will make you feel liberated, and the more your staff knows about a serious situation, the more in control they will feel.

4. Accepting feedback and criticismThe better you acknowledge your strengths and your weaknesses, the easier it will be to remain calm. The more you welcome ideas and opportunities, the more powerful you will feel. However, this means you have to ask people to be honest with you, and you have to be ready to accept what they say even if you don't like it. Allowing for this will make you smarter, and will diminish everyone's stress because they know they can speak and you will listen.

5. Reorganizing your lifeGet organized and define your priorities, both professionally and personally. It is very common to add stress to your life by getting ready for a meeting in the last minute or by not sharing crucial information in a timely manner, and this happens when you are too worried about competition and secondary assignments.

Most people live their lives in a very busy but undisciplined way. In many cases, we only care about doing things non-stop, without ever considering stopping certain things. Successful leaders make it a habit to select one unproductive thing that wastes their time daily and stop doing it right away. They do the same the next day, and in the process, liberate themselves from stress.

6. Recharging batteriesTake time to slow down. Working long hours without stop won't make you more productive, much to the contrary, it will jeopardize your performance.

When you take time to recharge, you are able to do more in less time. Professional athletes know it very well: overdo it and you will get burned out.

Spend time w! ith your family and friends, read good books, go out and have fun, or take a trip. Your company won't disappear because you take some days off, and you will boost your capacity to solve difficult situations.

Open up to life, fearlessly, not leaning on religion

Posted: 19 Aug 2012 07:00 PM PDT

Openness. Could this be the key that unlocks the happiness door? And keeps it (no big surprise)... open

So says Michael Singer in his intriguing book, "The Untethered Soul," which I've blogged about here and here.

I re-read the chapter on transcending the tendency to close this morning. Liked it the second time as much as the first.

Singer says that us humans used to mostly worry about physical danger. With saber-toothed tigers safely extinct, psychological threats are our biggest concern now.

As a result, the protective energies have adapted toward defending the individual psychologically. rather than physiologically. We now experience the daily need to defend our self-concepts rather than our bodies.

So what happens when someone criticizes us, yells at us, talks about an uncomfortable subject?

Since it's not socially acceptable to run into the woods and hide like a deer you hide inside. You withdraw, close down, and pull back behind your protective shield.

...The problem is that the part of you that gets disturbed is way out of balance. It's so sensitive that the slightest little thing causes it to overrreact. You are living on a planet spinning around the middle of outer space, and you're either worrying about your blemishes, the scratch on your new car, or the fact that you burped in public.

It's not healthy. If your physical body were that sensitive, you would say you were sick. But our society considers psychological sensitivities normal. Because most of us don't have to worry about food, clothing, or shelter, we have the luxury of worrying about a spot on our pants, or laughing too loud, or saying something wrong.

The more we try to protect ourselves from all of those scary monsters threatening our psychological well-being, the more we enclose ourselves in walls of our own making. We feel like we're in prison. Yet we're the jailer.

You will get to a point in your growth where you understand that if you protect yourself, you will never be free. It's that simple. Because you're scared, you have locked yourself within your house and pulled down all the shades. Now it's dark and you want to feel the sunlight, but you can't.

...Ultimately, if you protect yourself perfectly, you will never grow. All your habits and idiosyncrasies will stay the same.

...There are all these rules about things that are not supposed to happen outside because they could cause disturbance inside. Living like this allows for very little spontaneous joy, enthusiasm, and excitement for life. Most people just go from day to day protecting themselves and making sure nothing goes wrong.

Religions exacerbate this tendency to close ourselves off from life. They promulgate commandments, vows, rituals, "thou shalt's" and "thou shalt not's."

Religious believers are afraid, so afraid. God, karma, divine justice -- something is going to punish them if they transgress. God forbid, I should do what I feel like doing. It could be the Devil impelling me to enjoy myself!

Here in Oregon recently, some Republican state legislators spent a night in a topless bar. No taxpayer funds were involved. They partied on their own time.

My reaction was, what's the big deal?

I lean strongly Democratic, but I felt more positively about these guys after I read about their night out. I've been to topless bars, both in person and from watching every episode of The Sopranos, since much of the Mafia gang's business was conducted in the Bada-Bing club.

Yet the legislators apologized. For nothing, in my opinion. They should have said, "Hey, I love my wife, and I also love to watch young attractive women dance topless. What's the big deal?" Michael Singer writes:

The reward for not protecting your psyche is liberation. You are free to walk through this world without a problem on your mind. You are just having fun experiencing whatever happens next. Because you got rid of that scared part of you, you don't have to worry about getting hurt or disturbed.

You no longer listen to "What will they think of me?" or, "Oh God, I wish I hadn't said that. It sounded so stupid." You just go about your business and put your whole being into whatever's happening, instead of putting your whole being into your personal sensitivity.

Last night I read a New Yorker story about Mormonism. This reminded me of my super-strict eggless vegetarian days when I was a devoted member of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, an Indian spiritual group, whose guru taught that eating even a speck of forbidden fruit egg-meat-fish was wrong, wrong, wrong.

The Osmond family was the Mormon family: too many kids and too many teeth, maybe, but always solid, always smiling, always temperate -- no alcohol, no tobacco, not even caffeine. In an entertaining new autobiography, "The Book of Mormon Girl: A Memoir of an American Faith" (Free Press) Joanna Brooks recalls ecumencial birthday parties as a young Mormon in California, and the anxiety she felt about simply seeing a bottle of Coke; Mormon parties featured (non-caffeinated) root beer.

That sort of anxiety is crazy. But I used to be crazy in this way myself. So I understand how easy it is to fall under the spell of a rigid, closed, holier-than-thou, fundamentalist ideology.

If someone challenges the wisdom of remaining within the confines of a illogical, unworkable, repressive moral code, you immediately raise your defenses, holding aloft whatever is equivalent in your faith to the crucifix or holy water that keeps vampires at bay.

Except... vampires don't really exist. Likewise, Singer says there is no need to protect ourselves from judgments, criticism, ridicule, controversy, argumentation, slights to our self-image.

Let it go. Rocks can't break your ego-window if it is fully open.

A wise person remains centered enough to let go every time the energy shifts into a defensive mode. The moment the energy moves and you feel your consciousness start to get drawn into it, you relax and release.

Letting go means falling behind the energy instead of going into it. It just takes a moment of conscious effort to decide that you're not going there. You just let go. It's simply a matter of taking the risk that you are better off letting go than going with the energy.

When you're free from the hold the energy has on you, you will be free to experience the joy and expansiveness that exists within you.

...Real spiritual growth happens when there is only one of you inside. There's not a part that's scared and another part that's protecting the part that's scared.

...What you'll find is that the only thing you really want from life is to feel enthusiasm, joy, and love. If you can feel that all the time, then who cares what happens outside? If you can always feel up, if you can always feel excited about the experience of the moment, then it doesn't make any difference what the experience is.

...If you really want to stay open, pay attention when you feel love and enthusiasm. Then ask yourself why you can't feel this all the time. Why does it have to go away? The answer is obvious: it only goes away if you choose to close.

By closing, you are actually making the choice not to feel openness and love. You throw love away all the time. You feel love until someone says something you don't like, and then you give up the love. You feel enthused about your job until someone criticizes something, and then you want to quit.

It's your choice.

...As long as you are defining what you like and what you don't like, you will open and close. You are actually defining your limits. You are allowing your mind to create triggers that open and close you.

Let go of that. Dare to be different. Enjoy all of life.
